Part of a personal project I'm working on right now, to experiment with unfamiliar art styles and practice lettering skills by drawing animals. This is my first foray into cubism-inspired artwork (definitely don't claim to be an expert on actual cubism)--it was way more fun than I expected! I think I'll be trying some more...

Inspired by Charles Dana Gibson’s “Woman: The Eternal Question” (supposedly a drawing of his muse Evelyn Nesbit). I’ve always loved Gibson’s loose, graphical penwork. Working hard to be more ‘loose’ with my pen drawings.

Neal has found another Labrador – her name is Bella. He has also met Peter. Peter is worried about Neal. He thinks the boy might be a runaway. He is also about to patiently explain to Neal that when a dog is wearing a nametag with their owner’s info on it, then that dog is not an unwanted stray, as Neal seems to believe, but just a missing dog.
Done 2021 with lead pencils on 11x17 bristol. I had in mind to draw heaven and hell drawings but the hell drawing did not turn out good so it was torn and so this is the one i still have. (Gel Fineliner on A5 Paper) It is finished, even if it doesn't look like it. It reflects those old peanut display cards of the 1970s and 80s which were like a peanut strip-tease as the snacks were bought and more of the image was revealed. It's also a comment on the endless WIPs that some upload on social media which are like a form of "peanuts" in themselves.
I started this with the Doodle Addicts Pre/post quarantine diptych drawing challenge in mind, but I didn't make the deadline (I started it on the day of the deadline, so it was a little ambitious!). The first half of the drawing represents before the corona virus and the second half is after the virus and kind of living with it. No pencil, just straight into the drawing with ink. It's rough, but I like how it turned out and there are some fun characters.
So the end is near, well at least this year is near the end... and Christmas is around the corner. Gotta start getting ready, even though this one is gonna be a bit different.

As you can tell from the title, I didn’t originally intend to have another ray as the main character here but alas… happy accidents, right? Plus I feel it works for no reason other than it just does, so I don’t care too much really ☠️
