This was an exercise in taking a photo that was quite dark and foreboding and turning it into a happy looking illustration. I'm slowly getting my head around how to make my work look like illustration instead of "fine art". This is watercolour and colour pencil.

The Lesser Spotted Woodpecker is the smallest and least common of the UK's three species of woodpecker. It is most often found in the tops of trees where it creeps along branches in search of insects. Found in England, but rare in the north. Absent from Scotland and Ireland. Its 'drumming' is much quieter and less vigorous than that of the Great Spotted Woodpecker; its presence is often only given away by this or their call. The lesser spotted woodpecker is small in size, being not much bigger than a house sparrow. Males are black and white, with a red crown cap, and females are plain black and white. They both have a distinctive white ladder marking down their black back. **Did you know?** There are now believed to be less than 3,000 pairs breeding annually in the UK compared to nearly 45,000 greater spotted woodpeckers.

Watching a thunder storm roll in over the north cascades, it was super cool standing on the edge... For a little bit it was warm and sunny, and also hailing at the same time

My favourite natural wonder, the aurora borealis.

Ha Long Bay is a small bay on the west coast of the Gulf of Tonkin in the Northeastern Sea region of Vietnam, including the island waters of Ha Long city in Quang Ninh province. Being the center of a large area with more or less similar elements in geology, geomorphology, landscape, climate and culture, with Bai Tu Long Bay in the northeast and Cat Ba archipelago in the southwest, Ha Long Bay is limited to an area of ​​about 1,553 km², including 1,969 large and small islands, most of which are limestone islands, in which the core area of ​​​​the bay has an area of ​​​​335 km² with a dense cluster of 775 islands. I've been working on drawing My character, Florin and his dearest companions his queen and bodyguard today. They're from a northern mountainous kingdom that reveres birds especially corvids of all varieties.

This drawing, with a bit of watercolour, was done years ago in North Vancouver during a figure drawing session. Probably 15 - 20 minutes. Watercolour, subtly employed, can have wonderful affects. The challenge of working fast forced me to ditch excess thinking. And it's funny, because at first I thought, "Oh, this is terrible." Then the next day, with fresh eyes, or checking out the drawing in a mirror, I think, "Wow! How did I not see how good this is?" Never throw out your artwork immediately after a drawing session. Give them a few days and look at your work with fresh eyes.

The Mexican wolf (Canis lupus baileyi) is a subspecies of gray wolf once native to southeastern Arizona, southern New Mexico, western Texas and northern Mexico. Glaucomys sabrinus, northern flying squirrel has belly fur that is gray at the base. Flying squirrels might more appropriately be called “gliding squirrels” because they aren’t capable of true powered flight that a pterosaur, a bird or a bat can do. Ahh, final day of Inktober...and for the word ripe, I couldn’t help but think of signs of spring/summer returning to the land of Westeros after everything...everything!! The battle with the Night King is over and so is the battle for the Iron Throne. All over Westeros including The North, including Winterfell is ripe for life to return to normal again. *I have already completed the entire Inktober- you can check it out on my IG account: @dittofunkysketch123 :D

Tread - That time when Meera and Jojen Reed follow the treads of Hodor, Osha, and Rickon to find Bran Stark so they can take him north of the Wall. Bran would sometimes warg into Summer and/or Hodor and follow their treads. - I love the Reed siblings- they left all the warmth of their home to travel north to find Bran and to take him even further north to find the Three-eyed Raven. Meera is the unsung hero who kept Bran safe throughout the entire journey. It’s too bad how things were left off between Bran and Meera at the end.

Obviously when I think of snow, I think of Jon Snow! From bastard to brother of the Night’s Watch and then Lord Commander; to King of the North; a Stark and a Targaryen. He’s the emo guy, always brooding and of course he would- he’s kinda like the tragic hero always conflicted with love, duty and loyalty.
