My husband has a chronic illness and frequently spends weeks in the hospital. I have been doodling each day while sitting with him and many of them reflect my thoughts at the time. Often appearing are desperation, hope, frustration, sarcasm, fear.

My role was to serve my people as a tactician. My name was my rank. I had a soul. But magic awakened within me, and my role changed. My mind — trained and carved for purpouse — ceased to matter. Reduced to a beast, they stripped away my soul and bound me in chains. Is this the wisdom of the Qun?..

This weekend we were going to celebrate Emma turning 10 (approximate, because she is a rescue) with an Ancient Aliens-themed party. It is her favorite show. Well... things went sideways. Long story short, after a vet visit, we learned she needed to have surgery to remove a small mass in her neck :( Thankfully, everything went smoothly, and we will get confirmation in a few weeks from pathology if the mass was benign. We are remaining hopeful that it was. Happy birthday Emma! No matter what, you are out of this world

I've been thinking about this for some time now. I possess a plethora of incomplete artworks, and I ultimately chose to push through the countless pieces in development and stumbled upon this one. I can't believe this one went unnoticed. This is Taffy, a mixed Shih Tzu, Bichon Frise, and Terrier known as Shichon Terrier. A Bengal cat sits gracefully against a dark striped background. Its vibrant coat and striking blue eyes are beautifully rendered.

Stripped of skin, status, and story, what remains is the truth beneath it all. Bone Deep is a minimalist skeletal portrait rendered in graphite and ink on canvas, built through cross-hatching, stark contrast, and deliberate restraint. The exaggerated skull and hollow eyes confront the viewer directly — not with fear, but with inevitability.
