(HB pencil on a 139mm x 87mm postcard) It's not surprising that the pandemic would inspire me to do a work such as this. How could it not? It shows both the growing need for social interaction people have in isolation, along with the need to protect themselves. These two things have come together in a piece depicting a strange group of gate-crashing party-goers.
An attempt at people. This is Holy Week for some of us. Yesterday was Palm Sunday, and we watched mass on our church's new YouTube channel. The Gospel reading was very long, so everyone in the frame was standing still for a good while. I was really looking forward to our spring class People in the Park because I haven't done much figure work. It was postponed of course, so your constructive criticism is welcome.
A moody, very busy day. I did an ink wash of the beach today, but I'm posting the last piece I drew in the studio instead. I miss the studio and friends there.

I did this piece for Christmas. I got some Princeton brushes as a gift, so I figured I’d make a painting (Princeton brushes are awesome, by the way. If you can afford them, buy them). I hope you enjoy, and I will try and post often.
Second post here on Doodle Addict. I don't know why but this reminds me of Spirited away....or just studio Ghibli. All their art just makes me feel like i'm actually in that place; i can feel the breeze, hear and feel the grass.....Anyways, that's the image i get in my head when making this. Haven't posted for a while, I've been crazy busy but also feeling pretty flat to be honest so I've been drawing weird little floppy cats to cheer myself up a bit. Today one of them made it onto the back of my drawing board. Acrylic paint and sharpie markers :)
Inspired by the Neo-Classical period, I pushed myself as an artist to portray subjects in an idealistic fashion combining drama and artificial lighting. The subject is my sister who modelled as a reference, enabling me to control the shadowy effect over her face. The dim lighting and dark background resonated with the period style, focusing on the facial parts that are visible. The end result looks like she is emerging from the darkness. A somber atmosphere is illustrated through visual expression.
Adding the fast drying oil on the brushes improved the blending of the colours on the canvas which was especially useful when it came to applying strokes on the face smoothly. Visit https://www.martiaposts.com for more
