Doodling is even more fun when you can burn in onto wood :D

Final piece for upcoming show at AS220 in Providence, RI. Based on doodles I did in my grad school notebooks...

I wanted to practice my line art one day, so I asked my dad to give me an object to base a character design on and he said "rose."

Strawberry season means lots of berries in my sketchbook :)

I love the tradition and the symbol behind a milagro heart. As part of a religious ritual or an act of devotion, milagros can be offered to a symbol of a saint as a reminder of a petitioner's particular need, or in gratitude for a prayer answered.

"Perhaps one reason we are fascinated by cats is because such a small animal can contain so much independence, dignity, and freedom of spirit. Unlike the dog, the cat's personality is never bet on a human's. He demands acceptance on his own terms." - Lloyd Alexander Materials - Alchohol-based Markers, White Gel Pen and Black ink pens

Had fun trying to capture this. Someday I'll figure out how to get the watercolor gradient I want. Meanwhile this was a fun way to practice and I freaking love these Daniel Smith watercolors. I definitely need to get some full tubes of certain colors. (Moonflower, Lunar Violet, Opera Pink, Cerulean Blue, all the Cobalts, i think all the Primateks - I haven't tried them all yet... *Sigh*)

This was the first sketch I ever made. I made it in January of this year. I still can’t believe that it’s been only some four months since I drew this.
