Started as a doodle of a friend then I decided to have fun with it and this is its current state. Drawing on these large papers is kinda intimidating to a beginner artist like me lol. any opinions, questions, or advice would be amazing thanks..
Doodling has become an essential part of new beginnings in my life. The blank page is encouraging unplanned art that surprises me and pushes me in new directions. This piece speaks to me of fresh starts and flowing into the future full of change and magical possibilities.
I'm traveling through England ans Scotland for the next two weeks, and of course that meant I had to start a new travel sketchbook! I found it fitting that the first page shows the route I will be on.

WHIP IT GOOD. This ode to Devo was drawn with fountain pen ink run through brush markers. The watercolor effect was me running a wet brush through parts to make the fountain pen ink lift and pool. If you want more Leah Fun™, be sure to check out instagram Super_Starling!
Little watercolor horses, they were fun to draw and paint and each seems to have it's own personality. Some look a little too much like a donkey though. lol
love the go with the flow doodle mentality. I call it "Randomness". It's a great practice to help you start and gives a great feeling of complete freedom, and that's what doodlin' for me mostly is about. I sometimes use this randomness to create peace of mind, new ideas, creative flow, clearity, vision, dreams or great art! :)

It’s simmering with people ready to spew their most bigoted thoughts in the name of edginess/independence from the norm. This painting/ drawing is started in the Abstract with forms created organically. I used Acrylics and applied them liberally as you might use in watercolor techniques. I love challenging myself to create in this form, as I do in finding the figures which may form themselves in the process. I then detail the figures in a drawing style to enhance and bring it forward. my first ever piece of art i sold was this piece, i think around 2012 when i started going into more illustrative based work. its great to look back and see the progression and level i have progressed. i remember thinking this was the best i could do but now if i did something on the same level i wouldnt be so happy. i got a lot of good feedback off this piece and do plan on recreating it one day :))...
I have a little Moleskine (3.5 x 5.5) notebook that I only draw skulls in. I started in November of 2013 and I do one whenever the urge strikes me. It's not like a skull-a-day thing but sometimes I do get into a period where I will draw one every day for a while then I won't draw any for months. I even lost it for a while and was very sad. I think the longest gap between pages has been a year. This is the most recent skull, drawn on 05.28.2018. Most of them are posted on my Instagram but you have to scroll back a ways to get at the bulk of them.
Ink and Watercolor sketch of octopus. Normally I start with a pencil outline, then go over it with micron pens. But I'm learning to skip the pencil step and just sketch with ink. I helps you not to overthink things. Once you lay the ink line down on the paper it's there to stay. You can't erase and there isn't an undo like you have when working digitally. You just have to work around any "mistakes" you make. I'm also working on sketching faster because I just don't have that much free time these days. Trying to produce a new sketch every day is a real challenge.
I started keeping a Route 66 Journal when I traveled from Chicago to Albuquerque. I keep adding to it all along and hope to go from Albuquerque to LA this fall.
There is an old children song in my language talking about a little girl that his grandpa have a stars tree.. I heard yesterday and just had to draw it!
