I'm just experimenting with some very old kohinoor woodless colored pencils. It's spring upstate. One is my husband's garage, one is a very sunny spring day on an ATV trail behind my house.
I set my eyes on spring onions for the first time in my life after picking up this past Sunday's farm produce box. They were so beautiful! I also found the container of scraps for the compost inspiring as I invented a soup out of my new bounty.
A quick sketch of the flannel bush in my garden as the sun was setting. I was going to replace it with a salvia munzii, but then the flannel bush bloomed.
On t-4 days before the shelter in place order came down, I went to the library and checked out a bunch of books for my son just in case the libraries closed (the libraries closed the next day). This voice kept singing, "jungle, jungle, more jungle!" while I was drawing this.
I was feeling really sad and scared, and the weight of the world's crisis weighed heavy on me, so I wanted to paint something lovely and bright. Acrylic on Kraft cardstock
Sunset Clouds study. Watercolour. March 20, 2020. I found this extremely difficult. I've only ever painted clouds in Oil paint and it was much easier. I'm still working on painting lighter and quicker, but I found it a challenge to mitigate. I'll paint this again once my skills have advanced more.
