Hello. This is my kawaii or just had a good meal ‘Fu Dog’ (fortune dog 福狗) - a sculptures you’ll find guarding the entrance of the Chinese temple. Well, although theirs named as Fu Dog, these creatures are not dogs at all, but lions - Lions of Buddha, to be precise. The male fu dog is usually portrayed as fierce and the wide open mouth is to let evil spirits out—and the sphere at its feet, its symbolise its role as protector heaven~~fu dog normally comes in pair, male and female, but I am too lazy to draw another one

"Unthought-of Frailties cheat us in the Wise." ~ Alexander Pope, Moral Essays (1731-35), Epistle To Temple, line 69. I really had to ponder this quote and figure out how to illustrate it. A spider came to mind...so tiny and fragile in comparison yet invokes so much fear. Then considered a daddy long leg.

This is quite a ubiquitous scene, fresh garlands mainly of fragrant jasmine, marigold, rose and mango leaves, hang outside temples so the pious can buy them as offerings just as they enter.

A series of drawings I did digitally developing Florien ir'Litvin as a character as well as a little scene featuring him and Enna ir'Olar --- The whistling of the blizzard outside dropped into a lull as a gleaming gold chalice was passed between the Seekers. Candles winked out one at a time, dropping the temple into a pervasive gloom. Enna and Florien drank deeply, crimson lingering on their lips. Senses overwhelmed with magic, they leaned against each other. They could feel each other's heart thrumming unsteadily in their chest as they were gifted with a clarity that only their blood could bring. Together they knew they could face anything the year would bring.

I t is my opinion that Mel Gibson’s portrayal of the brutality the Roman soldier inflicted on the body of Jesus, through the beatings and the 39 lashes with the cat of nine tails. This event was never visually captured in arts, until he made his movie The Passion of the Christ. Many don’t know what a cat of nine tales is, Roman style. A cat of nine tails are nine leather strap that are woven together at the handle. Each strap is laced with bone and other sharp objects. With each lash, flesh would be ripped from the victim’s body. Most of the illustration I have seen of the crucifixion of Jesus where quite sterile. They fail to illustrate the brutality. Their image of Jesus looks more like an under wear modal doing a photo shoot fore GQ magazine, Then the savor having the wrath of God being pored on his body for the payment of our sins. In this painting, I am place my viewer in the soldiers shoes, who just witnessed Jesus committing His spirit into God’s hands. I think Art is the only good thing came out of religion. Maybe centuries from now when science will only be the thing people believe in, we will finally appreaciate the art we've created out of religious competency. At that time we are living out there in space because of the nuclear disaster we've made on earth making it inhabitable for us to live. Because somebody thought that his god is better than somebody else's. So now revisiting after centuries, looking at the marvels our ancestors have created make us hope that always good things come out of bad things. We just have to search for it.

This was a final assignment for my most recent figure drawing class. There's some things I'll probably play around with but for now I'm definitely ready to set it aside for a bit. Time: 8 hrs Medium: Procreate on iPad.

I don't remember her original outfit so I made her a new one.Gave her pigtails because why not?I guess she still looks like a stickman because she was one back in the day! finally..she has a name!her name is Chrissy Temple! The Fifth and final Joyful Mystery: The Finding of Jesus in the Temple. Young Jesus is so cool, can you just immagine all the wisdom and grace pouring out of him at Nazareth? Super power packed! lol Luke Chapter 2: 40-52 40 And the child grew, and waxed strong, full of wisdom; and the grace of God was in him. 41 And his parents went every year to Jerusalem, at the solemn day of the pasch, 42 And when he was twelve years old, they going up into Jerusalem, according to the custom of the feast, 43 And having fulfilled the days, when they returned, the child Jesus remained in Jerusalem; and his parents knew it not. 44 And thinking that he was in the company, they came a day's journey, and sought him among their kinsfolks and acquaintance. 45 And not finding him, they returned into Jerusalem, seeking him. 46 And it came to pass, that, after three days, they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, hearing them, and asking them questions. 47 And all that heard him were astonished at his wisdom and his answers. 48 And seeing him, they wondered. The 4th Joyful Mystery, the Presentation of Jesus. I put Joseph up front because he had a very important part not only in the Circumsision of Jesus after 8 days but also the Presentation of Jesus after 40 days. In fact the Fathers are the ones who offer the sacrifice in private (with other jewish priests etc.) in order to "Redeem" the child. Hence one of Saint Joseph's titles: "The Redeemer of the Redeemer". He also has the unique title of the "Savior of the Savior" because in the flight to Egypt after this event Joseph saved Jesus from the hands of Herod. Oh and I got to see the tomb of Saint Simeon! It's in Zadok and we got to see his body, he still had flesh but his beard had fallen out (poor guy, lol). He was a very holy man, I could feel the graces there. ^_^ St. Simeon and St. Anna the Prophetess, pray for us! Fifth Sorrowful Mystery: The crucifixion. I made the water and blood appear sorta as when Jesus appeared in the Divine Mercy devotion. Indeed a great act of mercy, his head is leaning towards the Good Thief, St. Dismas, to show his mecy towards him, the other thief refused (Gesmas). We also have St. John the Apostle, St. Mary Magdeline, Our Blessed Mother and St. Longinus, the roman soldier who pierced Jesus' heart with the Holy Lance. St. Longinus was healed spiritually the water and blood that poured forth by this act and believed, proclaiming Jesus to truly be the Son of God. "And when they came to the place which is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on the right and one on the left. And Jesus said, 'Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do' ...It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour, while the sun's light failed; and the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Then Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, 'Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit!' And having said this he breathed his last" (Lk 23:33-46). "'Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures' (1 Cor 15:3)" (CCC, 619).
