The European Goldfinch is a striking small finch with a distinctive red face and black-and-white head. Its wings are black with a bright yellow wing bar, while the body is mainly buff or light brown. During the breeding season, the bill of male and female goldfinches is white, but at other times of the year, it is marked with a black tip. Female goldfinches are very alike in appearance to males, and visually, it is hard to tell them apart from a distance. At close range, the sexes can be distinguished by the size of the red facial patch, with the females not extending past the eyes as it does in males of the species. Juvenile goldfinches do not develop adults' red, white and black facial markings until the late summer or autumn after hatching. A Female Pied Flycatcher Ficedula Hypoleuca… The Pied Flycatcher is a summer migrant to the UK. As the name suggests, it feeds on flies that are caught by making a quick dash from an obvious perch. There are around 40,000 pairs in the UK each summer. The Pied Flycatcher is a small unmistakable bird that often sits with drooped wings. It spends its winter in Africa. Identification: Adult Adult males and females share the same plumage pattern but are different colours. Male Pied Flycatchers are small and chunky,13cm in length and are black and white all over, they are quite unmistakable. The upperparts are black and white, tail is black with white base to outer tail feathers, rump is a slightly paler, back is jet black, wings are black with white wing patch (tertials) The nape and head is black except for small white patch above the black bill. Chin and throat white, extending to form a half collar. The entire underparts are white, ie; chin, throat, breast, belly and undertail coverts. Legs, bill and eye black. #27 Plants vs Zombies fanart - This was an old piece I drew during a live stream on magma.com a few years ago. I got around to finishing it last night in ibisPaint and then made some color adjustments in Photoshop. I stink at coloring in my opinion and I usually don't color my line drawings because I get a little bit antsy staying in the lines. The following characters I drew are: The Tree is named Mourning Wood - which is a mini-boss from the game Terraria, the sunflower is from Conker's Bad Fur Day, The Piranha Plant is a recurring enemy in the Super Mario franchise, Peashooter and Puff-shroom are from Plants vs. Zombies, Ivysaur from Pokemon, Water Lily Siren from Shantae, the toon witch Samantha from the tv show Bewitched (intro), and Godzilla.

A cow thinks he can jump over the moon, so he's leapt and employed wings to succeed. Moral of the story: Believe in yourself. If you believe you will succeed, the chances are very likely you will.

Sometimes the quickest drawings hold the deepest truths. During an after-sermon discussion about understanding the love of God, I found myself listening with one ear and drawing with the other. Frank, seated across the room, made a natural model—relaxed posture, thoughtful presence, and a face full of character. With a pen in hand, I traced his form in a quick contour line, following the folds of his shirt, the tilt of his jaw, the stillness of his hands resting in his lap. Contour drawing asks us to see more than just the surface—it demands patience and presence, a slowing down until the line itself feels like prayer. Frank became more than a subject; he was a reminder that the love of God is often revealed in ordinary moments and everyday people.

Sometimes, a good goodbye is also a fresh hello. As we wrapped up our "Sacred Spaces" paintings, I asked our student teacher to design a one-day project—something playful, earthy, and engaging to ease the class into her care. She brought mud. Literally. Using mud and simple stencils, students pressed images—flowers, insects, wings—onto the sidewalk behind our school. There's something timeless about making marks with the ground itself. It felt ancient and immediate at the same time. These prints won’t last long, but maybe that’s the point. A fleeting image, a shared laugh, a new hand guiding the next phase of learning. Art is about making marks. Not all of them need to be permanent.
