kaputnik

Kaputnik. Kaputnik is a conjunction of the word "kaput" (meaning "broken, damaged, destroyed") and "Sputnik" (Russian robotic spacecraft). Meaning is obvious: something which hasn't come up to expectations. Suggested by @dimetartemid who disappeared since. Come back! https://www.instagram.com/p/CriphjGgO_F/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Rust is a funny word to illustrate. It is so sturdy a word that I had a hard time abstracting from it.

Susurration is a favorite word that I share with @ghostkismet and Tiffany Aching. Just noticed that I misspelled it, but in my defense, I don't think there are enough S's in this word; there should be MORE! https://www.instagram.com/p/CrL4wZEuYcQ/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Catty corner or kitty corner or also cater cornered. Such a weird expression that today I learned is to be identified with obsolete cater “four”, from Middle French quatre. Favorite words. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cq8Dw2QO_Vr/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Dream of the Midnight Sojourner

In this drawing, I was striving to capture the spirit of contemplation and reflection, a sort of spiritual sojourn, an ancient practice of pilgrimage, focusing on subjects of transcendent nature, and exploring destinations of spiritual significance. (words taken from scholarlysojourns.com). It is a self-portrait (me as a 14-year-old boy). We had just moved from Mequon to Rhinelander. It was then that I began to romanticize the natural beauty of Mequon. But at the same time, I was falling in love with the beauty of Rhinelander. In this picture, I am walking through the countryside of Mequon. The stringed musical instruments symbolize my love for the progressive classical and folk-tinged acoustic and orchestral music that was coming out of England in the late 60s and early 70s, specifically the quieter pieces of music performed by the Moody Blues, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Yes, and Jethro Tull. A song called Reasons for Waiting by Jethro Tull is a good accompanying piece for this drawing.

God Provides

God Provides Mural: acrylic paint on Stretched canvas. Size: H 30 “x 40” w 1” D In this mural I seek to illustrate How God through Jesus provide for the spiritual needs of humans. The first century fishing boat with its nets stretch out to dry on the shore, Jesus calls us to leave our old live behind and join Him on a new adventure. Just as he calls his disciples to leave their lives of fishing and join Him in bring people back to God. The illustration of a boy lunch in a desolate place, we are reminded that God know our physical as well spiritual needs. If we seek to put him first in our lives, He will take care of the rest. Jesus and Peter walking on the rage ocean, God call us to weather many great storms, to be able to participate in rescuing of the spiritually drawing. We always need to be reminded to keep our eye on Christ unless we become filled with fear and we become overwhelmed by our hostel environment and being to sink. Jesus on the cross, God knowing no sin, sent His son to be a sacrifice, the innocent trading place with a vile criminal to face a horrible death on the cross. We can all identify with Barabbas, for because of our sinful words and deeds, we ourselves are criminals before a Holy God. If we identify with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection from the dead, for the payment of our transgression. This is the only way to be forgiven and washed clean of our sinful past. We have been given the holy spirit to enable us to turn from sin and walk in the newness of life through His word and spirit. The rock with ALPA and OMEGA and Irish flower carved in it: represent Our eternal God who existed in the eternal past and will exist in the enteral future. The rock with dove facing down, represent the coming of Holy Spirit who Jesus sent, after He went back to Heaven. He came to teach us all truth about spiritual things, about God, to give us understand of His words, and to strength our bodies, minds, spirits to enable us to do the will of God. The rock with fish symbol: Represents the sign first century Christian would draw on the ground to test a person to find out if they were a true follower of Christ or if they were a spy, trying to expose were the Christians met for church. So, the Roman could arrest and kill Christians. How the test was administered: The initiator would drawl half the body of the fish in the grown, then the person being evaluated, if they were a Christian would know to draw the second half of the fish. Malthus

Done 2022 with lead pencils on 11x17 strathmore drawingl paper. . Original art is up for sale $80 USD (shipping fee will apply) email me jungmeister4@yahoo.com This spirit upon evocation in the black mirror, builds towers and fortification surrounding the magician. This may be reflected in a spiritual manner, creating astral towers of which protect the magician from any attacks. In the Black Mirror, Malthus may be then invoked into the magician, as a part of recalling the spirit as an atavism. This will strengthen the mental aspect of the individual who seeks to create a solid essence of self which may not be attacked by spiritual means. Malthus builds towers and fills them with ammunition and weapons, and can outright incite war. He is also said to send his legions into battle, or to places designated by higher commanding demons. He burns towns; it is also said that he builds towns and fills them with armed men. Malthus takes swords to the wicked and sends men either to battlefields or to other places. Malthus has his own challenge which it that his opponent must bring back more Mamedanuki skins than Malthus himself can capture in one cycle of the moon; he counts a tie as a loss on his part, as he says he is a perfectionist. All leaders of the 26 legions serving under Malthus have been given names. Their names are Gremera, Ephiom, Phexus, Helerio, Dexitos, Amkoto, Emikin, Sayuren, Apishe, Mystitis, Alduin, Zortex, Drarok, Belmoret, Bizgin, Gelvox, Brudan, Xollon, Sonnorak, Algmis, Destrux, Valgoch, Starkun, Delmek, Celvall, Yorunan

The Book.

THE BOOK from Stories for Nighttime and Some for the Day by Ben Loory. "THE WOMAN RETURNS FROM THE STORE WITH AN armload of books. She reads them quickly, one by one, over the course of the next few weeks. But when she opens the last one, the woman frowns in surprise. All the pages in the book are blank. Every single one. The woman takes the book back to the store, but the manager won’t let her return it. Right there on the cover, the manager says, This book has no words and is non-returnable." https://www.instagram.com/p/Cf61DnhO1NL/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Sherlocking, June 2022.

As far as things that I can’t seem to shake off are concerned, it’s this fact that a place like Edinburgh where I live is akin to a village where everyone (artist folk in particular) seems to know everyone, and the patterns or quirks that emerge from this said thought process. In most collectives I’m a part of and/or are associated with, there’s what seems like an endless sense of crossover and overlap with fellow artists etc for lack of better words, which is lovely as it is insane... you know? All in all though, even if it drives me mad it does so in a strangely positive way and I’ve learned to live with that. So yeah, make of that what you will. :-)

Junkmail artjournal

My favorite way to eliminate the often paralyzing fear of "ruining" "good" paper is to just paint on any and all junk mail that comes into my house. Higher end catalogs are great for this, they don't use slick, thin paper (and even that gets used in collage or as a desk cover for other projects) and they're already bound for you. Just add marks! Carry it with you. Scan the pages you like. Cut it up later for making other art. It's "just" junk mail, so there is literally no pressure. I have HUNDREDS of these type of things and I run across them all the time, forgotten, in some old backpack or purse or drawer and it's a treasure to look through them again, and add new marks, paints and words.

Make a place to sit down. Sit down. Be quiet.

A wonderful reflective poem from Wendell Berry entitled "How to be a poet" is a fantastic foundation for an art curriculum. The last of three stanzas reads as follows: Accept what comes from silence. Make the best you can of it. Of the little words that come out of the silence, like prayers prayed back to the one who prays, make a poem that does not disturb the silence from which it came.

Zoo trip.

Reminds me of a Buddhist proverb: Patiently I will bear harsh words as the elephant bears arrows on the battlefield. Words are powerful. They stir emotions. We are the managers of our emotions. It is not what happens to us that is the issue, it is our opinion of what happens to us that is the issue. Peace.
