Legends and folklore is huge in Game of Thrones book series, one in particular is the legend of ‘Azor Ahai’, the warrior who drove the darkness away with his sword Lightbringer. How he forged the sword to bring the end in darkness was by plunging it into his wife’s heart. her soul and the hot blade created Lightbringer. A new ‘Azor Ahai’ was supposed to come again and many believe it to be either Daenerys Targaryen or Jon Snow. - I think end the end it’s Jon Snow if the prophecies were interpreted this way- the ‘long night’ being Daenerys mad reign. A more detailed explanation can be found on distractify.com!

The prompt word toward the end of October- ominous. Ravens are known to bring ominous news! Although that may be influenced from Game of Thrones (I miss that show!), 'Dark wings, dark words", as Old Nan used to say! For this one, I used the wisp character from the mobile game, "Legendary Game of Heroes". Every time the word 'wisp' is mentioned, I think of this character!

This was for a Kinokuniya tote bag contest but it was inspired by a whole host of things. I have included some of my favorite book characters in the doodle as well as some folklores from Japan and China. Can you recognize them and the book characters?

Treasure - That time when Illario gifted Daenerys with dragon eggs, a gift for her wedding to Khal Drogo. The 3 dragon eggs came in a chest and are rare to find. Jon Snow’s faithful companion. In the beginning of the first few seasons, Ghost seem to come and go and Jon would wonder where he went! Like a ghost! Sometimes appearing outta nowhere! Ancient - The Children of the Forest were around are ancient, mysterious non-human race that long existed and inhabited Westeros way before the arrival of the First Men; 12,000 years before Robert’s Rebellion, according to GoT wiki! This was inspired by the incredible makeup and costume done on the tv show with a little bit of embellishment on my part!

That time when Samwell Tarly tasked himself to save Ser Jorah Mormont from greyscale. It was not an easy task since it requires the removal of one scale at a time! Also every time the scale was removed, the skin oozes, so yeah, not a very pleasant sight! In the beginning, it would make Sam woozy or dizzy, but he was able to complete the task! Spirals added for embellishment of course! This was oddly chosen for adobeawards stories feature. That time when King Robert visited Winterfell to see his old friend Ned Stark. The word ‘husky’ according to dictionary.com means ‘big and strong; burly’ which Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark are! And I couldn’t help but put a direwolf in there, which can sometimes be mistaken for a husky!
