Animal Parade

For the past years I have been mainly painting in acrylic. But since my last show I have taken this time to return to my love of drawing and am mostly experimenting. I am using fountain pen for the first time and really enjoying it.

Sunday Drive

A second go at my drawing 'Animal Parade'. I wanted to try a different approach, a bit darker.

the Attic (detail)

Pen and ink in my moleskine. I posted the entire drawing a few weeks ago. I really enjoyed drawing this. I felt like I was drawing someone's lost thoughts.

the Hunter

‘the Hunter’ Who is the hunter, the person or the fox? We often assume everything (including the title of this drawing) is about the human being. In this case 'the Hunter' refers to the fox (with the prey in her mouth). There are a diverse world of ‘beings’, all living their stories.

the Archer and the Hare

I have been drawing quite a few women in armor, most of them with animals. This was the first one in the midst of an action pose. It was fun to draw.

Childhood Holidays

This is a drawing I did a few years ago of the holiday cabins that my family used to stay at. We would spend a week each summer vacation at the beach.

Polar Bear Ship detail

A detail from Polar Bear Ship, a recently finished drawing after Pieter Bruegel the Elder, an artist of the 15th century. I changed it a fair bit, his didn't have polar bears - or any animals. I wanted to try out his style. I like this way of drawing.

Fox and Raven frame

This was done with fountain pen in my moleskine sketchbook. I wanted to try out a frame like they used to create for book illustrations. This is after an illustration by Virgil Solis from 1563. I have changed it to make it more contemporary.

Nature Troll Doll

Did you have one of these as a child? I had multiples, every size from one that doubled as an eraser that you could fit on your pencil, to the extra large size, she must have been 10 inches high. Trolls were great with all their hair colours. My sister and I made them clothes and sent them on adventures.

House on the Park

I went out drawing in the nearby town and saw this attractive house on the edge of the park. I think it must have been built there before the park came into being.
