Welcome to Nornwan, Untitled Heroes!!! What brings you here today? Escape from reality? Sweet! Me too! This is an illustration of her majesty the queen. She has no name that we simpler lifeforms can pronounce. She has lived long, and ever watched over the land of Sucrosia, (the land of candy). Not all dragons that come to the land of Nornwan are peaceful and life-loving creatures, nay, some are wicked beasts, they oft seek the utter destruction of the peoples! How very fortunate we are, indeed, to be blessed by the Candied Lady.

Late night (really late) watching the beautifully made silent film The General by Buster Keaton. I stopped it here when the bad guys climbed up on a moving train fixing for a fight! I used 6b pencil on Procreate

Superstition : Fishing.
One of the strangest sea fishing superstitions says that if a fisherman and his wife have a quarrel and fight just before he goes to sea then he can expect a good catch. The argument though, must develop naturally, and not be staged deliberately, and if a man actually draws blood from his wife then he can expect an especially large haul.

Crosshatching was used to build up the shadows. It's probably my favourite drawing technique. Works best with pen and ink. This is the cover image for one of my children's picture books.
Been a busy couple of weeks, school holidays are always a bit tricky to find time. I have been working on some illustrations for a software product that my husband and I are building so I can't share those at this stage but I was back at the gallery today sketching with my new drawing group, I spent most of my time with a bunch of Mesoamerican statues. I am starting to not get so freaked out by people watching me draw :)
I was listening to the song ‘Devil Doesn’t Bargain’ by Alec Benjamin (HIGHLY recommend by the way!), and I thought ‘hey! This OC matches the vibe of this song.’ And decided to write the lyrics behind him. For future reference, that takes far too long, but it turned out pretty well!
I thought I was finished with all my hand-designed shoes yesterday, and then I received this pair in the mail today (originally blank white) from my grandmother with money and a request to do them to match my “Abstract Moon and Flowers” design that she recently bought as a jacket on RageOn. Some more practice with crosshatch shading and the proportions are a bit off. I also somehow made the left side of the bottle fat and it drives me nuts. ヘ（。□°）ヘ Other than that I think it came out ok.
India ink on tissue paper. I had never used ink on this kind of paper before; I really liked the results! There are some folds and wrinkles on the paper that give the pattern some interesting details. The paper is also super absorbing, which plays nicely with the quantities of ink. Since it's very thin, there can easily be overlays between textures. And finally, when trying to use less ink (so that it wouldn't seep through and cause a big dot - the absorbing quality is nice, but it was also somewhat of a challenge!) I used very little ink on the lettering, causing a scratchy, dry look.
