attempt

This is someone's OC I drew (the design is not mine. No stealing please.) It's also one of my first attempts at drawing a dragon-like creature. This one, I'm pretty proud of. However, I need practice on drawing scales. Getting them to look right is more difficult than I thought. Overall, super happy with this picture. I hope the image makes your day a little more magical.

My first attempt at painting. Painted along with Bob Ross to try learn some techniques, hopefully I can start to paint my own art.

I first bought some cheap soft pastels back in 2018 and did a couple of sketches. I bought a nice set of Rembrandt pastels a few months later — didn't use them. I bought some pastel pads, none if which seemed right. September 2020, I bought a couple more sets of bargain pastels and tried a couple of pieces — no good, still couldn't bring myself to use them. Jess bought me pastel pencils for Christmas — I was too scared to use them. I even bought a pad of Pastelmat which is supposed to be THE paper to use for pastel paintings in January. I was too scared to use that as well! FINALLY, after a few unsuccessful attempts at working with watercolour (brush issues), I cast aside my fear and thought I'd mess around with pastels. Some time later, and this was the result. I've finally broken through my pastel fear-barrier. I've got to say, I love soft pastels and I'm excited about doing more pieces in this medium.

First attempt at the prompts

A sketchy batman. This is a bit old but i still love it because it was my attempt at drawing a superhero type character. My anatomy at that time was not how i wanted it to be and still to this day but now i have a slight hang of it.

So I'm a little behind the curve, but here's my day 1 for Inktober. This was my first time using my fountain pen for drawing, so I can't complain too much. There's definitely some room to grow. Lined with a TWSBI Eco: fine nib with Organics Studio Walden ink on Tomoe River paper. I'm a sucker for sheen, what can I say. The sad attempt at shading was done with a wet paper towel, so I'm guessing I could try upgrading my technique there ;D

This is my first ever attempt to make a digital painting of clouds. Even though it is unrealistic!, I tried to depict how the sky looks in my dreams.

This is an older piece representing an idea that I keep coming back to. This is my second attempt. I'm still not happy with it and will probably try again.

This was my first attempt at a landscape. I used soft colored pencils

This was my big project this weekend, my first attempt at a large full body horse. The picture was requested by a horse lover like myself and I can’t wait to give it to her. Done in pencil on an 18x24in sketch pad.

This piece came out in an attempt to make sense of the world around me after discovering that I have autism and a few processing disorders. I’ve always had a hard time in relation to people and now it makes sense, but wrapping my mind around who I am and what people want is a challenge. Acyrlic paint. I never imagined I could capture so much emotion in an eye—especially on just my second attempt. This piece came to life through intuition more than technique. The values, the shadows, the highlights… they felt like they found their place on their own. Maybe emotion, light, and shadow have always spoken to me—I just finally listened.
