Scanned from one of last years sketchbooks. Micron pens for basic sketch, added shadows with Koi watercolor pen, and used acrylic paint for the green background.
(2B pencil on an A7 page) This is one of eight images I used in a small booklet I made about "The Little Black Book" and the contacts and comments people would write in such address books. This one is of a pirate. Others include a superhero, an alien, a witch, an angel, and a cat. In wanting to get active with my fellow doodler community, I wanted to stop in and introduce myself. My name is Dalton Stark, I live in Texas, and i'm a doodle addict, and an advocate for the possibility of anything. For me, doodling is my purest state of being human. My sketchbooks are a very sacred place for me to practice this expressive and arcane form of imagination meditation, which I'm always trying to find more excuses to spend more time in. It is to me, all about intuition, making discoveries, surprising yourself, having fun and maybe even making yourself and others smile or laugh sometimes. I've begun cutting apart my old sketchbooks and glueing them back together. The results of which are sometimes more interesting than the old drawings themselves. This saint is my favorite of my most recent bunch. She's the prettiest Christmas tree of all.
This is a graphite pencil drawing of a hunting hawk somewhat loosely based on a photo. The reference photo is from: Birds of Prey by Paul D. Frost (Paragon Books Ltd 2006) and credited to Martin B Withers/FLPA. I found the book in the Goodwill a couple of month ago and was much inspired by the beautiful photographs.
I am delighted to share that I Am a Dragon! has been named to the Pennsylvania Center for the Book's 2024 Baker's Dozen: Thirteen Best Books for Family Literacy!

Hi, I know I've been gone for a while I have not given up on my art journey I just haven't posted about it. I Draw & Paint pretty much 4 times a week I've been working on anatomy a lot lately both drawing it and studying it through videos, and books, but this is some of my progress work so far.
Sometimes, I re-read books and they don't have the same impact as before. Sometimes, I re-read them and they hit me harder.
Roadside picnic by Brothers Strugatsky made me cry. This is my favorite book by them, although I do so love Monday starts on Saturday. But this book! I wish more people would read it.
