Steampunk is a Seahorse

I did the water texture according to a tutorial by James Chapman, found on Instagram. The steampunk seahorse was an idea from a lady I am following on Instagram as well (look for @carrieisartsy) This piece is done on a paint chip card with poscapens, a gold marker and fineliners.

Kismets countryside adventure : plantago

Plantain, Plantago major, was considered to be one of the nine sacred herbs by the ancient Saxon people, and has been celebrated in Anglo-Saxon poetry as the "mother of herbs." In Russian this plant is called Подорожник - meaning near the roads. Native Americans called it "white man's foot" as it is often found growing along well-trodden foot paths and it was brought to the Americas from Europe. The Latin generic name means "sole of the foot." When I was a kid, we would use the leaves of this plant for small hurts and scratches. We would spit on the leaves and stick it onto our scratches. https://www.instagram.com/p/CSE9jT9LqUY/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Slow down.

Things I learned from fairy tales. Being first is not always good. Being second is worse. And so, slow down and enjoy not being the fastest! https://www.instagram.com/p/COa3tsAhAWf/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

and now, a short poem: "I am so close to the edge, I could just take a step, and leave this lonely world behind" ... thank you, and now back to our regularly scheduled fear-mongering and brain-washing, yay!

Somewhat Daily: Jan. 10, 2022

I generally make marks on something every day, but I'm really TRYING to do it purposefully in one singular location (journal). Here is a successful attempt from that particular day. I'm also super lazy, which means I never go up to my actual studio and only use what's out on my computer desk.

Anthony Trollope

Anthony Trollope (1815–1882) "All those I think who have lived as literary men,—working daily as literary labourers,—will agree with me that three hours a day will produce as much as a man ought to write. ... "I always began my task by reading the work of the day before, an operation which would take me half an hour, and which consisted chiefly in weighing with my ear the sound of the words and phrases.… This division of time allowed me to produce over ten pages of an ordinary novel volume a day, and if kept up through ten months, would have given as its results three novels of three volumes each in the year..."
