I hear you.|by Daydream

When the world is full of noise and impetuous, you can try to sink your heart into the deep sea. There is silence, you are willing to talk about your story, then there will be someone willing to listen.

I Prefer Lakes

I don't mess with oceans. One time, I just wanted to cool off on the edge. The undertow was so strong that I got trapped, knee-deep from the shore. Nothing I could do but just wait for the giant wave to pile-drive me into the beach. So much sand crack.

Face homework. This was following a couple of super uncomfortable hours trying to draw people moving in videos, which was such a struggle for me (and my deepest art desire right now!).

The Resurrection

The First Glorious Mystery: The Resurrection! While Jesus' body was entombed he descended into the Underworld in order to free and bring to heaven all the righteous that died before Him. Jesus is victorious over death, Robed in Heavenly white, He is surrounded by a mandorla of star-studded light, representing the Glory of God. Christ is shown dramatically pulling Adam, the first man, and Eve from the tomb. Jesus does the work, that is why He is pulling Adam from the tomb by the wrist, and not the hand. Surrounding him are Holy Men and Women of the Old testament and who died before. St. Joseph is also there almost saying to the others "That's my boy! :)" Haha. John the Baptist and King David are present. On the other side we have little Abel next to Eve, Judith with her sword, Esther in royal purple and Ruth. I'd like to include even more but I'll need a much bigger piece of paper or canvas. :P This Icon is also called the "Harrowing of Hades" “Harrow” comes from the Old English word used to describe the ploughing of a field with a cultivator which is dragged roughly over the ground, churning it up. In the icon, Christ is shown with the instrument of His death plunged deep into Hades. Beneath Christ’s feet – which still carry the marks of His crucifixion – lay the gates of Hades, smashed wide open in the shape of the Cross. Christ has trampled death by death. Within the dark underworld are scattered broken chains and locks; Hades is not destroyed – it is still there – but its power to bind people is gone. There are no chains, no locked doors. Christ is always there to lift us from the darkness of this world. The Scourging at the Pillar

The 2nd Sorrowful Mystery: The Scourging at the Pillar. This was kinda painful to draw. The reality of Man, created originally so innocent, corrupted to the point of hurting a man God. Lord have mercy. 1. Jesus is taken before the High Priest where He is falsely accused, buffeted and insulted. 2. The Jewish leaders take Jesus before Pilate, for only he can impose the death penalty. 3. The robber, Barabbas, is preferred to Jesus. 4. Pilate can “find no cause in Him”, yet to appease the Jews, he orders Jesus to be scourged. 5. The scourge is made of leather thongs to which are attached small sharp bones. 6. Jesus is bound to a pillar and cruelly scourged until His whole body is covered with deep wounds. 7. The Lamb of God offers His suffering for the sins of mankind. 8. Jesus suffers so much in His sacred flesh to satisfy, especially, for sins of the flesh. 9. The prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled: “He was wounded for our iniquities, He was bruised for our sins.” 10. Father, by the merits of Jesus in this painful scourging, have mercy on us and on the whole world. Spiritual Fruit: Purity

The Nativity

It's Christmas in July! The Third Joyful mystery: The Nativity, the Birth of Jesus. Jesus has his iconic Halo now and you can see the divine graces pouring out in the classic Iconic way, some deep theology drawn here. ^_^ Of course Saint Joseph is in deep contemplation, Mary is tucking Jesus in and even the animals are in wonder. :) Holy Family, pray for us.

Drowning

This is a work I made as a reaction to a questionaire about suicide. I got over it, but I have been there, done that. Despair, the feeling of drowning, reaching out but never getting the help you need, deep dark depression, the grey-brown brainfog. Yet: there is some light, there always is, but I'm too scared to look at the light. I didn't varnish this pastel-drawing, just to accentuate the fragility of mental health. What you need to know it that I got out of this and so can you if you are this deep in trouble. I'm doing much better. January 2020, pastel on A3 paper.

Sower and the Seed

Sower and the Seed This painting illustrates the parable “The Sower and the Seed,” a teaching of Jesus recorded in the book of Matthew chapter 13. The four hearts in the sky represent four different responses of those who hear the Gospel message. The heart on the lower left represents those who have heard the gospel but reject it. The devil then comes and takes it away from their hearts. This is illustrated by the crows flying away with the seed that fell on the road side. The second heart on the upper left side of the sky represents those who receive the gospel message with joy, but it doesn’t take root in their faith, and their faith is temporal, falling away when trials or affliction come their way because of the gospel. This is illustrated by a grape vine withering away in the heat of the day due to a lack of a deep root system. The heart in the upper right corner of the sky represents those who received the gospel and believe, but the worries of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. This is illustrated by the grapevine being choked out by a purple, flower-bearing, climbing, strangling vine called, morning glory. These vines produce pretty flowers, but they are an organic farmer’s enemy because they will choke out his crops. I learned this firsthand in organic farming when I was a missionary for a couple of summers. The heart in the lower right corner of the sky represents those who hear, believe, and are committed to living for the gospel, so they produce much fruit. This is illustrated by a healthy, strong, fruit-bearing grapevine. The tilled field represents the world that God has prepared to receive the Gospel message. The sower represents all Christians that are commanded to go into the world and proclaim the gospel message. The seed being thrown by the sower represents the gospel message going out to the world. The seed bag has written on it, “The Word Seed Co.” (October 28, 2017)

This is a painting I made trying to capture the simple beauty of a bird on a frozen tree. On a deeper level, this can symbolize appreacting the small moments in life, like the beauty of a bird on a snowy branch.
