Botanical Hawk Design I drew for my former junior college alumni banquet. They had it printed on a giant canvas for people to color. It started out as a small doodle and transpired into something else. ha ha. Made this with Sakura Micron Ink ( 01 and 005) on Bristol with Digital Editing to finish.
Inspired by Ruth Wilshaw and her book "Creative Gouache" I tried to get a gouache effect in my digital illustration. I think I did it. I'm nicely surprised with the final look.
That's why experimenting is so astonishing.
Do you ever start doodling an idea out and then get stuck in it for days, then weeks... The older I get the more obsessional I seem to get about following an idea. This week it has been nothing but eyeballs... I think I'm on number 11 now, and to be honest I think it's finally running out of steam, or I'm just running out of ideas on what I can do with an eyeball! So here is part one. Meet Columbo. I had an itch to do a landscape with this type of cave-to-outdoor view. I also had an itch to make something with this "orange and teal" color palette, which is very popular and use a lot in movies. And thus... voila! I made this. It was very fun and I hope you like it.
