“Melting Pottery”, August 2025.

This week’s been an interesting one for socialising in my world, no denying it. If I’m not getting acquainted with new folks at work or at my art clubs, it’s reconnecting with people I haven’t seen in 20+ years… certainly informed today’s piece, without a doubt!

The creature

I kept my eyes on it the whole time. Now it was moving so slowly that you couldn't really see whether it was coming towards you or not. Occasionally its shape changed just slightly and its black tummy swept over the concrete floor. I could hardly breathe. I knew that I ought to run away and hide bur I just couldn't. Now it moved diagonally again towards the wall and wasn't to be seen any longer. It was in the pile of junk behind the modelling stand, it was somewhere behind the sacks of plaster and might appear again just anywhere. It was getting dark in the studio. I knew that it was me who had let the creature out and I couldn't capture it and lock it up again. - Sculptor's Daughter by Tove Jansson

#26 Collection of unfinished doodles

#26 Collection of unfinished doodles - The Brachiosaurus (from Joe & Mac) in the center was drawn tonight. The rest were drawn over the past few years and stored away in a folder because they are all unfinished. Everything was drawn digitally on magma.com with an iPad Pro. Other characters included are: The girl from stellar blade on right side (whatever her name is), Amy Rose, Chakan the Forever Man (bottom center), Toad & Bowsette, the Giga Mermaid (from Shantae), and Sonic the hedgehog - looking ridiculous because he is fun to draw as Sanic. Everything else is from imagination.

Grandfather

Grandfather was a clergyman and used to preach to the King. Once, before his children and his children's children and his children's children's children covered the face of the earth, Grandfather came to a long field which was surrounded by forests and hills so that it looked like Paradise. At one end it opened out into a bay for his descendants to bathe in. Then Grandfather thought, here will I dwell and multiply, for verily this is the Land of Canaan. Then Grandfather and Grandmother built a big two-storey house with a sloping roof and lots of rooms and steps and terraces and a huge veranda and placed plain wooden furniture everywhere inside and outside the house and when it was ready Grandfather began to plant things until the field became a Garden of Eden where he walked around in his big black beard. All he had to do was to point at a plant and it was blessed and grew until it groaned under its own weight. - Sculptor's Daughter by Tove Jansson #dailydrawing #tovejansson

The Meeting Bell

The Meeting Bell Medium : Pen and Ink On Bristol Board Size : 11" x 15" Year illustration was completed : 1987 This illustration was part of a collection of pen and ink rendering i did for a christian mission, for their pamphlet that was published to inform the community, surrounding churches, and the military post near by, of the services they offered, and about their ranch. Their main ministry is to the military service personnel and their families. They offer a weekly dinner followed by a Bible study. They offer a place where service personnel could spend the weekend at the ranch for free, with meals included. There would also be activities they could partake in , such as going to concerts, going to amusement parks, visiting national park for picnics and hiking. The ranch holds retreat for military personnel who are in training, who want to learn about the Bible , and enjoy good home cooked food, rest, and out door recreation in the country. This ministry also lends it's facilities too near by churches, and to the military chaplaincy, for luncheons. This ministry is a great work of God, share God's word, and love through hospitality. About the bell. I call this illustration the meeting bell, because it sat right out side the activity center, and when ever a retreat was being held, the bell was use to let the guess know when a meal was being served, or a Bible study was about to begin. If you study the bell you can tell that at one time it must have been housed in some kind of church or fire house, by the big wheel attached to it's side, so it can be rung by a rope. Then when it found it's self at the ranch , they must have had a arm clacker manufactured, To strike the bell to sound.

Prowler the Dracuda

This is a digital drawing of another species I designed. Please do not use or claim the species as your own. I took great care creating this creature and I love it to bits. I made a base for this creature too, so if anyone has any color suggestions, I would love to hear them. Just drop a comment. Thanks so much and have a great day.

Winter Mountainscape in Oil Pastel

This is the second oil painting I have ever made, and the first time I have attempted to create mountains, trees and bushes. I used just 3 colours for this: Raw Umber, Phthalo Blue and Titanium White. I learned a lot and had tonnes of fun at the same time.

Village Painting

- Oil painting of a countryside of Vietnam. When observing, it is easy to see an image erected when people are working in the field, along with the early morning time, so it has created a beautiful picture. Each object in the picture has its own highlight, full of attractive looks. Although it is a picture of a simple landscape about people in the countryside, every little detail is meticulously painted by the author. This painting is owned by the author "Uilliam Potter". This picture was drawn and uploaded to show everyone the inherent beauty of a rural village, if you have the opportunity, come and feel it. Dont Lose Yourself
1/5

The five part illustration series Don't Lose Yourself. You can lose yourself in many ways; Consumerism, Heartbreak, American Culture, Loneliness, Giving In, Giving Up, Settling. The five part illustration series, “Don’t Lose Yourself” highlights the chaos we don’t notice around or within ourselves when we’re disconnected away from reality. Sinking so deep, we forget our own values or who we are. The collection reminds us to stay within ourselves by showcasing the dangers of what happens when we don’t.

The Power of Presence

It has been a delight to share with my students the incredible resource of people. Over the years, I’ve had the great privilege of connecting them with inspiring individuals such as Lois Ehlert, Dave Nice, Gregory Martens, Colette Odya Smith, and—as seen in this “Behind the Professor” sketch—Dr. Gaylund Stone. There’s something powerful about the presence of someone who lives their craft with humility and depth. In moments like these, my students are reminded that more is often caught than taught.
