The forest nearby is full of baby banksias growing in poor gravelly/sandy soil which they do better in. The little one was growing on the edge of a gravel road.

This poignant black and white pencil and ink drawing captures the essence of a dark, broken man with sand slipping through his fingers, symbolizing the passage of time and lost hopes. A hole in his chest reveals his heart, while beside him stands a similarly broken woman. In the foreground, withered flowers and a shattered hourglass accentuate the theme of decay and loss. Banksia grandis is a banksia that is of medium height with large candles. The eyes contain seeds that come out with fire.

A drawing-in-progress of native flora near my home and in my garden. The Lilly Pilly fruits will be made into jam while the Grevilleas provide food for the bees.

I have been making a lot of thank you cards lately and I thought I’d share. Haven’t had a ton of experience with watercolor lately, but I find the best way to get back into using a medium is using it on small projects and gradually working up to bigger pieces.

Vibrant flowers, including a sunflower and a rose, dominate the forefront of the painting with their bright and colorful petals. Light, sketch-like strokes give the piece a playful and dynamic feel, with an array of greens creating a lively backdrop for the blooms.
