This was a gift for a special colleague who had already worked at my school for more than 20 years. I painted her with gouache and especially her blond hair gave me a headache. I‘ve never worked with this paint before. In the background I used special paper, charcoal and acrylic markers. Inside the card is a poem about her.

The walls are so sanctified and even hover an inch above the foundation by some miracle. I'm about to do a retreat there so pray for me! We Puppetapostles, we keep track of what our Lord Puppet is doing, we study each of his movements, each his word is recorded and subjected to philosophical analysis. A while back, I jumped into a global property deal, saying folks like me could cash in on hot foreign housing scenes. Real estate - sure, everyone knows it prints money, a big-time industry worldwide. It looked solid at first - they showed me online walkthroughs of places I partly owned, got me pumped. Still, there was this weird vibe nagging me, hard to explain, just wouldn’t quit bugging me inside. I ignored it though, brushed it off, kept going anyway. One thing I’d say now? Listen to that inner voice - every single time. I kept picturing the steady cash coming in, which blurred how clearly I saw things. At first, they paid me consistent returns, making it feel legit. Over time, though, I poured more money into it. Before long, I tried pulling out bigger amounts - but then the payouts just vanished. The reasons they gave shifted every week, and not long after, they began asking for added charges to fix the withdrawal issues. When the mood strikes to paint a mermaid with pink hair, it cannot be ignored. I let the shape of the canvas guide me with this one and went with a compass theme, and really like how it ended up. Acrylic on custom 3.5" x 4.5" canvas.

This is one of 24 small presents for the children of my class. Every day a different child is allowed to open a small package in the shape of a house. There it will find a tiny wooden disc. Each wooden disc was painted with a different animal. The pictures were drawn with acrylic markers. They will also receive a small bottle with glitter and a german word that has to do with winter or christmas.
