Seeing as how it's both "Mario Day" and Dr.Seuss's birthday, I drew something really random. Super Mario and the Cat and the Hat are there, but are just looking at the dog with the coin.

As a small animatronic branch, BaileyTainment gained the rights to use Ringmaster's Altitone band members as their own. So, they altered some of the characters and created their own chain of the Altitone Band: Zero Days Until the Party. These are the band members of that restaurant: Elizabeth the singer, Preistor the guitarist, Lexibo the pianist, Altor the drummer, and Dexter the DJ. A cat, a rabbit, elephant, bear, and racoon. Most evenings, I watch a couple of news programs streaming on my computer. During that time, I also make it a point to draw a person (usually from an on-line reference photo) with a No.2 yellow pencil (generally Ticonderoga) on whatever paper is handy on my desk. It's good practice and keeps my hands busy. These are some "News Doodles" done this past week.
In my Blue Star sketchbook serious art has been interrupted by two cartoon characters I came up with years ago that I drew for my university student newspaper. They're back! Adolescent silliness returns with the adventures of Hardball and Riley. There's a bit of allegory at work in this story, so it's not as infantile as it first seems. They are certainly fun and my main characters are very easy to draw. I do sometimes spend too much time on the background.

Ending this month saying I believe in #januhairy. I think we should do what we want with our bodies, they’re the only one we’ve got and it’s our body, no one else's. Me, I must admit I have foolish reasons to keep all hair in my body; it’s too damn cold! Yap. That’s it.

decided to take a day and go back to my roots, the reason i started drawing in the first place , SPIDER-MAN. Don't take any of it serious, I'm just screwing around here . Never take anyone's art super serious, in fact, that makes everyone's life harder and more awkward . so,,,, yeah, peace
Needing to get out of the house, I walked down the street to the antique shops that are right around the corner from my house and did some urban sketching.
What's more comforting than a summer day with butterflies flitting and bumblebees tumbling amonst the flowers in the meadow? My husband felt that blue was most comforting for him. Me, I liked the salmon. The mandala is drawn in Spirality...which takes the designated "wedge" and repeats it around the circle. Colored in Photoshop (given there is a 20 min. time given for this challenge---otherwise, I would have colored it by hand).
At the top of Pentregwenlais near Llandybie is Gwenlais Quarry. In itself, the quarry is quite beautiful with its sheer rock faces and the way that nature has started to reclaim it. This scene is one of the paths that leads down from the top of the quarry back towards Pentregwenlais. I was going to do it as a pen & wash but by the time I'd finished with the watercolour I thought it was too complex to start putting ink in there. Watercolours on watercolour paper (6x8")
I'm always crossing the woods in the winter (safe from ticks) to discover happenings--animal movement, tree life and so on. Came upon this scene just recently, two trees that fell together during a wind event.

I was challenged to choose 10 music albums that defined my musical buds and I decided to draw them, in no particular order. For a moment in time I was obsessed with this album. Still one of my favourites of all time.

This is a piece of art that I've just done for a friend. Don't try to ask me what it is exactly, because I have crazy friends. he drew a poorly sketched character on a piece of paper, which I doodled over as a layer, so I didn't have much to work with. I was mainly experimenting with Sketchbook's tools, so that's why its kind of all over the place. God gave me the gift of art.....and I'm creating angry bird knock-offs. :]
A concept for a 19th-century survey vessel that will be the setting for a comic. Has both steam power and auxiliary sails, of course! The bubble in the middle is a weather balloon that can be deployed from midships.

This is a drawing I have been working on when I need to slow down and turn my brain off for a little while so it's taking quite a while to finish but I am always happy to see it progress that little bit further every time I sit down with it. This is from my A3 sketchbook, I used to stick to smaller A5 and A4 sizes but I am certainly appreciating the extra space with this drawing.

“I get up at about eight, do physical exercises, then work without a break from nine till one,” Stravinsky told an interviewer in 1924. Generally, three hours of composition were the most he could manage in a day, although he would do less demanding tasks—writing letters, copying scores, practicing the piano—in the afternoon.
Unless he was touring, Stravinsky worked on his compositions daily, with or without inspiration, he said. He required solitude for the task, and always closed the windows of his studio before he began: “I have never been able to compose unless sure that no one could hear me.” If he felt blocked, the composer might execute a brief headstand, which, he said, “rests the head and clears the brain.”
