It's been a hot minute. I was taking myself too seriously until there was no fun in drawing left. So I had a break, then bought myself some chunky kids' markers and voilà!
This isn't a recent drawing, but it's an old favorite of mine. This is Venoct from a game called Yo-kai Watch. When I drew him, I tried to make him look older because I think the actual character is a kid. Anyway, thanks for checking it out!

He was passionate about the idea that art in schools is for the growth and development of children, not about the end product. "Drawing makes the mind", he would say. So this is my darling Dolores. She is mixed cultures, Dad is Hispanic and mom is African American. She is a very mischievous character, she is a little girl you should be concerned about. But she does a BFF, he is in the works still. But when the kids see her coming, they get real nervous.
When I was a kid, I used to draw nonstop. As I got older, I got harder on myself. Now I only draw when I think I can make something big of whatever I'm doodling. I want to go back to the way I was before,
I used to sketch in my car much more often. I'd go downtown and quick sketch people, scenes--whatever moved the spirit. With this sketch, I got the idea for a series...a what if ordinary moments in life were done in Picasso fashion. In this case, it was a Dad with his two kids. I never pursued the idea any further than a handful of quick sketches, but I wonder, what if I painted Dad with two kids Picasso style? It's still on my bucket list. What about you? What's on your bucket list regarding art ideas, projects?
DoodleSchmoodlez 29th Nov. = I love going thru old sketch pads 'n splash watercolor on 'em. Reminds me of e like the last 15 mins of my youngest daughter's swimming lessons - the kidz'd just chill out... think it's sooo important to have fun when learning / cre8ing.
