This doodle is named for what it's painted on. I had a theory that Cheerio box cardboard would take well to watercolors, and I was right! This is my character Shu. She is from the Ming Dynasty period 1368–1644 (I think). Created with White Knights Watercolors, handmade pearlescent watercolors (by Rusee on etsy), and a bit of pencil (mainly painted over or erased).
Not a terribly good piece, but I had fun drawing it. It is a take on the Spirit of '76, originally painted by Archibald Willard. I did it upon request, but I did not charge anything. I think it would have been better in color.
This was drawn with a Japanese fountain pen, Japanese ink, and painted with Japanese watercolor. To be specific - I used Holbein watercolor and Platinum Carbon Black in a Pilot Falcon. This trio is perfect for me.

I think it was the second call for entries/book.There are now 4 books filled with awesome art drawn and painted on outsides of envelopes and packages by artists all over the world who then mailed them to the UK totally exposed to the postal service. The original was all analog. I brought this into Procreate and reworked it. I may do more when I get a chance but I’m pretty satisfied with it now.
