painting

I just dig this up can we keep it

Original Photo by my Mother

Original painting created by HEL MORT®, Mixed Media on Aluminium.

Combination of traditional and digital art. I actually hand painted this on some very textured paper with oil pastels a while back, so to 'tidy and clean' it I had to employ digital means. The background was done with alcohol inks, the 'flow' of it I was particularly proud of :).

Acrylic paint on canvasboard.

Hail clouds rolling in over freshly ploughed fields. Acrylic 4x6".

Butterfly Magic

This armadillo is going big air on the road. Small 8 x 8 acrylic painting on wooden board

I wanted a fierce pose and landed on a good side-eye. Used really strong colors and a digital oil application

Acrylic paint on cardboard.

Gouache in my sketchbook.

Raw umber, black and white sketch :)

In the process of developing the next "Bird, tree, card" painting. Building off the root sketch and incorporating a harpy eagle. Which heard of but never really "looked at before... and wow. They are beautiful, huge and so odd.

The finished piece is 24 x 32 inches on 300lb. hot-pressed watercolor paper ~painted with watercolor and ink. There were a lot of components I wanted to incorporate in this piece. Then, the painting kept "going". It moved of its own accord in places I did not anticipate, and I kept going with it....people that I know/have known intertwined in my mind as I painted the tree branches. Overall, the painting took on so many meanings to me as it matured

Not going as I hoped...so putting it away for a bit

Blind date success when it's this guy!
