This is watercolor using the negative painting technique where you paint around your subject using multiple layers which creates depth. This has greater than 8 layers of watercolor washed around the tree shapes

this was hard! Firstly trying to illustrate a swallowtail without decapitating a poor swallow... then trying to fit these two together.

The hardest part here is the background! It would be too easy just to paint a cloud...I have about 5-6 different backgrounds, but only uploading one here is my fav of the bunch
This was a commission for portraits of 2 dogs using watercolor for the dogs and acrylics for the background. Painted on Aquabord which makes the watercolor so saturated that they appear opaque

This painting/ drawing is started in the Abstract with forms created organically. I used Acrylics and applied them liberally as you might use in watercolor techniques. I love challenging myself to create in this form, as I do in finding the figures which may form themselves in the process. I then detail the figures in a drawing style to enhance and bring it forward. I saw a man outside the library wearing a crown nestled into his cowboy hat. He was speaking swiftly, seemingly to himself, possibly freestyle rapping. Probably crazy. Then I drew some saints and stuff around him. I suspect he could use some assistance, perhaps spiritual.
