Sometimes, on the pathway to success, we will meet obstacles. Before we can reach our destination, we often have an ocean of things to overcome. Trying a mixture of pencils and gel pens. Just highlighting a couple of things. Showing a mixture of not knowing what is actually there in the eye of the beholder.
Here’s one more of the van Gogh -style self portraits. I wanted to try with colour. What can I say? I’m in lockdown. I have time :) Posca markers on coloured A3.
Four quick self-portraits, also show-casing my quarantine haircut. I did them yesterday as a part of Leith of School of Art’s Wake up and Draw challenge. The instructions were to do Van Gogh style drawings using the short very lively lines he is renowned for. The main image was 15 minutes on A3, the other three 5 mins each on A4. The images are in ascending order, so the first one should be at the bottom and the last one as the featured image.

Unfinished value study for a painting, worked in graphite on hot pressed watercolor paper. Drafted and rendered using the Bargue method. Hopefully, I got the photo oriented correctly so that the drawing will be right side up, once I upload it! If anyone has advice for photographing a heavy application of graphite, without getting weird reflectiveness, or speckled effects, I’m very interested!

Today in Portugal we celebrate our freedom day, while being inside. This is a portrait of one of our icons: Zeca Afonso, singing the iconic song "Grândola Vila Morena".
