shading

Working on completing a portrait from a reference. Going to do one more proportion check to make any adjustments necessary and then start some shading!

So...I didn't feel like doing face shading today and this is how I avoided it. I actually kinda like it! Sort of giving me Harley Quinn vibes. Always open to feedback!

So I'm a little behind the curve, but here's my day 1 for Inktober. This was my first time using my fountain pen for drawing, so I can't complain too much. There's definitely some room to grow. Lined with a TWSBI Eco: fine nib with Organics Studio Walden ink on Tomoe River paper. I'm a sucker for sheen, what can I say. The sad attempt at shading was done with a wet paper towel, so I'm guessing I could try upgrading my technique there ;D

Man oh man, it's been a week. The chaos is strong with this one. It was really fun to draw this, there's something so calming about shading with graphite; it felt like the only time I was present this week. But hey, I suppose that's why art is here. As a side note, thank you so much for 70 followers! It's truly incredible to part of an amazing community of artists, and I genuinely appreciate everyone's support and feedback. Here's to creating more art!

My first skin shading! It wasn't easy hahaha

To get a feel of how shading works for watercolor I had fun playing and learning. Not perfect but I’m working on it.

Goku from Dragon Ball, in his Super Saiyan form. A classical anime character which was really fun to draw, especially the shading!

So I found my pen but it broke in the middle of this XD but don't worry my aunt had a backup. This is my first digital illustration with a pen please don't judge me ;w; using my fingers is painful.

Horse eye done in graphite. Took about 3 hrs to complete. I’m really happy with how it turned out, but this was my first time doing a detailed eye so I would love to hear what you guys think!

Trying a bit shading

Dude this thing is gonna be a wip especially cause I’m shit at shading *obviously* so that’s gonna take me a while -I’ve spent 45minutes on this thing so far I’ma continue it later

Finally completed it... :-)

This is an experiment, I was trying to make a paper doll. I haven't cut out the pieces yet, but I'll post a picture tomorrow with the doll wearing the clothes. I also experimented with shading on the hair, and a different way of drawing it. I'm really sorry the picture is on it's side, I will fix that next time I do one of these.

Plan to make the horses more unrecognizable and then go over the whole thing with sharpie adding shading and texture

This is my latest project as of March 15th. It was a request from my cousin. It is based off his original photograph. As you can see, i’m just putting the base shade on it. I’ll have to add the details of the fur after the shading is dark enough

So after I did the pencil shading on my little cartoon fairy and bug, I added in some color with colored pencil. I surprised myself with the result.

I decided one day to do some shading on one of my little cartoon fairies. This is the result. A fun little piece featuring a fairy and little lightning bug discovering each other. :)

Inspired by a black and white photo this sketch is a mix of oil pastel and marker.

Sleep Time .... good practice in shading.
