Day1. Book of shadows

Hi guys! LOoong time no see. But, thanks to #inktober, I'm here :) My friend offered me to participate this year challenge with #witchyprops, which I find lovely, so here it is: The book of shadows!

Girl with extra

The girl was probably around 25yo but my drawing made her face and body look older. The shadows are a bit rough too. Again, I placed the drawing a bit wrong and had to leave out the feet.

Alone with the shadows

She wanders among the shadows. Something touches her ankle. Is it a siren she hears in the distance through the mist?

I reach the crossroad, look to the right, and then to the left. Couldn't tell which way to go, downtown had always got me confusing. I crossed the street, the light was red.

Embracing the Shadow

The black shadow as negative space is being embraced. The red profile in front seems to have a part in the relationship.

Finished this up. Not particularly a fan of Barcelona, but greatness is where it is. It’s funny, no matter how dark I make shadows and shading, I always feel I could have gone darker.

My tribute to my good friend who died earlier this year. Another white pastel on black paper. Not my favourite media but I love the effect of it. I need to practice more as I can't get my head around working on negative lol, erasing to get shadows and filling in to get highlights etc. I used a chunky white stick and a white pastel pencil but detail still eludes me lol. It's a technique I need to refine. It's the second picture of a dead person I've put on, apart from humph, so I'm a cheery little soul aren't I lol? Thanks for looking

Illuminated

Inspired by the Neo-Classical period, I pushed myself as an artist to portray subjects in an idealistic fashion combining drama and artificial lighting. The subject is my sister who modelled as a reference, enabling me to control the shadowy effect over her face. The dim lighting and dark background resonated with the period style, focusing on the facial parts that are visible. The end result looks like she is emerging from the darkness. A somber atmosphere is illustrated through visual expression. Adding the fast drying oil on the brushes improved the blending of the colours on the canvas which was especially useful when it came to applying strokes on the face smoothly. Scribble Sunday 2

Here we go again! Yesterday's one hour produced this lovely darling :) We don't have enough fanart with ShadowSearphimon! I just adore the design of this Digimon. Considering this was my first ever try to draw him, I'm pretty happy with the result ^-^ though there are certainly some things to be improved. Please enjoy anyway! - Crypto

Paleontology Hall Explorations
1/5

Observations from an expedition to the Houston Museum of Natural Science, which features an incredible paleontology hall. I brought with me a pad of sticky notes, a couple Micron plastic nib pens, a set of Copic Markers, my fanny pack, and some headphones. Prehistoric life has been an infatuation of mine since childhood, and there is something very humbling about drawing in the shadows of these fallen giants.

Father Of Mental Breakdown

Horrid ways for which sorrow follow further down the dim lights of life. What lines must be crossed as glass seem to puncture minds swollen? A strangeness emerges beneath our shadows.

Progression 4 of 5. Nearly done at this point. I liked how the light and shadow played out under her foot. The muscle tone of her legs really popped out with the dark pencil.

WIP: Meant to Be Yours

A heavy WIP of my illustration based on the Broadway musical "HEATHERS" song, "Meant To Be Yours." When it comes to digital art, everything I've done has all been self taught. I began this piece when I first began on my I-pad and am still at it till I can make this piece what I envision it to be. I learned a lot of shadowing and effects on this piece, and I can't wait to complete it! What do you think thus far?

Work Doodles

To help pass time and keep my creativity at the front of my brain, I keep a half sheet handy and challenge myself to fill the page with lines, shapes and shadows before the shift is over. Never a theme planned I let the pen take me on its own adventure. I’m just a passenger.

I drew this with a brush pen, then used a water brush to blur out the lines into shadows. I used Photoshop to invert the background and tweak the colors.
