1979’s The Tin Drum is one of those films I’ve been itching to see for a long time, but haven’t got round to yet for some reason. The main character in that film’s played by a guy called David Bennent. Not a household name for most, but you’ve seen Ridley Scott’s Legend, you’ll recognise him when he played Honeythorn Gump, Tom Cruise/Jack’s elfin pal.
Not sure why the idea to name this piece after D.B. occurred to me, but it did!
I can't draw guns lol,Ruthleen is a 30 year old crime lord who is in charge of exporting illegal firearms throughout various cities,she also launders lots of money along with her partner in crime Parslip longstem who's a parsnip vegetable.Both bring in millions of dollars in illegal activity.they are wanted for their crimes,Ruthleen and Parslip have a mutual relationship with Taffeliers who is a moody drug lord.Ruthleen came from a poor,dangerous neighboorhood and was raised by a single mother which shaped most of her personality,cold and restrained.
So I just finished “the fault in our stars” by John green and it is very sad. It involves death and there is a song called when am I going to lose you by local natives. Both of them at the same time was overwhelming and It brought up the question, when am I gonna lose the ones I love so dearly?

BIC ballpoint stick pen drawing on Richeson bulk drawing paper. This started as a contour drawing and just got squiggly (not the original intent). This was clipped to my board for weeks and I would add a few squiggles from time to time when I wanted to make marks, but didn't have inspiration. It's just a bit under 15 inches (12x18 inch paper) and is probably about 25 hours of making little lines and squiggles. The reference was a Dreamstime royalty-free photo.

A fierce,rebellious,individualistic,stoic demoness who is eventually exiled from her home in Alceridia by Qasaherim.she is found by Erik and the rest of the peasant teenagers lying down cold and disturbed all by herself with ripped clothes.she recovers but she vows to kill Qasaherim once she returns to her normal form and to hell.she faces everyday obstacles as a peasant while Qasaherim laughs at her misery.She can read minds,open black holes,change time,time travel (which can be painful) she does have a final form (alceridians don't have final forms unless they were gifted by their creators for a special reason)but it's abominable and inconceivable and it's 700ft tall Qasaherim has a form similar to hers too.
This drawing was an attempt at drawing something grotesque as well as a study of a side profile of a person. Alukah is a Hebrew word that means "horse-leech", a type of leech with many teeth that feeds on the throats of animals. This study of a piano was done for a woman who was a missionary with her husband. They served in a Christian ministry that reached out to military personal and their families, through the teaching of the Holy Bible and showing hospitality. They have been missionaries most of their lives. I met them while i was a summer missionary the year I was in college. I went back two more summer to help , and they became my friends. The woman is a gifted piano player, so I was asked if i could do an illustration of her piano for her. This couple have inspired me through their dedication of using their lives to serve God through serving others, that many may know God through the teaching, and living out the Word before others.
One of my favorite times of the year is Autumn. It’s a time that reminds me how blessed I am for the rich friendships I have in my life. It’s also a time I enjoy making new memories with relatives I have a deep emotional bond.
And for some reason, pumpkins symbolizes this wealth of love I have for these loved ones. Maybe because orange is a passionate color for me. Or maybe because the color orange is abundant during this season when warm a fuzzy feelings show up when I’m with my loved ones. This hue is in pumpkins, persimmons, hot apple cider beverages, cinnamon spice on pies or lattes, and the obvious autumn leaves.
But my focus for this illustration were big, fat pumpkins. I love hugging and squeezing them and feeling it’s cold flesh on my skin. I look forward to my next bite of pumpkin pie from our very good friend, Terry, who makes them very excellently!
