I stumbled across this old mill some years ago while walking in Drefach-Felindre. The area was once a hub of the wool industry, and now houses the National Wool Museum. I only managed to discover its name when I was doing a Google search as at the time of drawing, it was up for sale as an 11 bedroom property!
The prompt word toward the end of October- ominous. Ravens are known to bring ominous news! Although that may be influenced from Game of Thrones (I miss that show!), 'Dark wings, dark words", as Old Nan used to say! A street sketch near Bourem, Mali. My new method of finding something interesting to draw - now that I'm mostly at home, like everyone else - is using StreetView. I use the app to search interesting places around the globe.
This was Emma Thompson in one of my favourite films, Stranger Than Fiction - she is brilliant! I used just colouring pencils in this one to try out a soft, harmonious look, on the background of blue A4 card. I quite like the relationship between the foreground and background in this piece; had the background been white, I don't think it would have worked as well.
