Public open-air swimming pool doodling

40" x 30" crayons, acrylic paint, ink, oil graphite, food coloring, make-up, enamel, colored pencils, white out on cardboard. My rendering of a Salvador Dali piece.

I wanted to take snapshots of my day at the beach so I came up with the idea of doing story boards, little snippets of moments. Felt less pressure for perfection and created an atmosphere still.

Situational awareness is important these days. Pre-pandemic, I sometimes take my doodles to coffee shops during my lunch breaks and relax for half an hour or so by mindlessly scribbling/shading with my Bic pen. People usually leave me alone but this drawing made me realise that not everyone wants to see a man drawing a naked man. A few people took exception to my subjects’ lack of clothing and made their displeasure known by telling me. Suffice to say, I try not to go into coffee shops anymore while working on subject matter that might offend anyone. Bic4 Ballpoint Pen on 9” x 12” Archival paper. Model: Malik_E

I was at the beach last week and did a lot of flower drawings. Here is one I'm trying to work out.

Beginning. The bird had a pair of sunglasses she used exclusively to daydream. Today she dreamed about blueberries. It seemed strange - maybe - to daydream about them while sitting under a blueberry bush, but the bird thought it made them sweeter. Clio is a limited production, quite difficult to obtain, premium Spanish Red. I had the pleasure of visiting the vineyard many years ago and, while there, managed to take one photo of a particularly gnarly vine. This is at best only a very unreasonable facsimile.

@Esterizion I attempted to recreate this I had a lot of fun doing it. It doesn’t look that great but it was my first time using mix brushes.
