Happy Holidays everyone! Have a digital Christmas Card in the form of another mixed media work - this time digital painting over a photograph I took ^_^
I didn't know numbats are a thing! Came across this amazing little endangered marsupial when I was trying to decide which N animal to paint. They eat only termites (hence the recipes ;)). Part of a series where I'm painting animals in different styles. Today's was inspired by the art of Beatrix Potter. Digital watercolor, pointed pen, and colored pencil.
This is a pumpkin design I carved for the 2015 Chads Ford Pa. Historical Society's Great Pumpkin Carve.
This years design was a upright dove with out stretched wing, and it's bottom portion becomes an upside down bat with it's wing outstretched . I entitled it Peace And Terror. It represents the two realities most countries around the world are experiencing at this time.
This year I thank God for helping me discover the most effective tools and carving method that has finally made me a expert pumpkin carver competitor.
I have carved three pumpkin this year, and each one get better then the last.
I have been in the past used the hammer and chisel method with wood carving tools. My new tools are clay sculpting tools using the shaving method.
This design took me about 7 hour straight to complete . I did not get to chose or see the pumpkin I would be carving until the day of the competition. The carve is a live event, meaning you cannot bring a pre- marked or carved pumpkin to the event.
This year I believe there were about 75 pumpkin artist who participated in the event.

An amended version now framed - A Superb Male Fairy Wren (Malurus Cyaneus) with its full plumage and is available with transparent background to suit many merch products.
The Superb Fairy-wren was one of the first Australian birds to be described. Male Superb Fairy-wrens have been labelled as 'the least faithful birds in the world'. Females may be courted by up to 13 males in half an hour.
Even though I have alot of other drawing to share, here's one for the holidays. It's Ms.Chalice from "Cuphead" and Penny from "Enchanted Portals" enjoying some Christmas cheer.
My "Enchanted Portals" fan character Wilma (the wizard in blue) and my little witch girl Wilma and her ghost friend Spookers have a nice little night flight.
My first drawing in the new Rebelle 7 by Escape Motions. Go wild with the new metallic paint or turn it down low for a subtle sheen that adds interest to simple paintings.
