More animal themed ideas. I used a sea otter as a base for this particular ecosystem. There are all kinds of creatures and little treats hidden within. : ) Artwork by Janelle Dimmett. www.janelledimmett.com
An intuitive mix of fluid watercolor gradients and intricate fineliner patterns, wrapped up in a golden border. A little bit biological, a little bit whimsical.
THE SMALLER YOU ARE THE BIGGER CHRISTMAS IS.
Underneath the Christmas tree Christmas is vast, it is a green jungle with red apples and sad, peaceful angels twirling around on cotton thread keeping watch over the entrance to the primaeval forest. In the glass balls the primaeval forest is never-ending; Christmas is a time when you feel absolutely safe, thanks to the Christmas
tree.

A vibrant, hand-drawn marker illustration featuring a rustic wooden cabin perched on the edge of a tranquil lake. The foreground is filled with glowing green lily pads, leading the eye toward rolling green mountains under a bright, cloudy sky. This piece captures the essence of a peaceful summer escape and the beauty of lakeside living.
A bit on the rough side right now, since I'm just getting started (again) on watercolours. I've never painted this loosely before so this is a big step for me. Maybe I'll try a selfie again in a few months to see how I've progressed.
I've been absent from the site for months, due to working on a book. But now that I have a bit of spare time, I've been dabbling in watercolours, something I haven't done in years. A bit rough to start but I'm enjoying it.
A hand-drawn illustration capturing the quiet beauty of a slow afternoon. Featuring a traditional tea set and a bursting vase of purple wildflowers against a sun-drenched window, this piece blends the "Sunday Reset" aesthetic with timeless botanical charm. Perfect for tea lovers, art collectors, and anyone looking to bring a touch of "home sanctuary" vibes to their walls.
A delicate, hand-drawn study of the Blue Liverflower (Hepatica), capturing the first signs of spring. This design features breezy blue petals, energetic linework, and a minimalist vase, blending a classic botanical feel with a modern, sketchy illustrative style. Perfect for those who love the quiet beauty of forest wildflowers and cottagecore-inspired art.
Inspired by Amer's testimony from Islam to Christ on YouTube channel: Touching The Afterlife: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TlvIHuRZ-V4&t=1074s&pp=ygUOYW1lciB0ZXN0aW1vbnk%3D
"I only saw my soul there screaming. That's all I could hear. It was on fire. There was no water. There was nothing." - Monique Berk. These drawings were inspired by a woman's testimony I listened to on Touching The Afterlife here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2F8S2mj0J4g
I was on the fence about posting this one, but I've been very moved by the testimonies of those who prior in their lives seemingly had no hope. While you live and breathe, there is hope.
Only my second time tackling the lusca as a drawing subject… hopefully it checks out!
“The Lusca is a legendary sea monster from Caribbean folklore, primarily said to inhabit the underwater caves and blue holes near Andros Island in the Bahamas. Described as a massive hybrid—often half-shark, half-octopus—or a giant squid/octopus, it is rumored to reach lengths up to 75–200 feet.”
What a wonderful Kirkus review!
(Paired here with my favorite improper contraction.)
"A thoughtful look at life, in all its beauty and strangeness.
...
This delightfully deadpan musing on life urges compassion for others. Howden’s straightforward text is on the philosophical side, though also rooted in the absurd. Hahn’s spare black graphite pencil watercolor, mostly set against a white background, are imbued with humor and empathy for the pickle, with the foodstuff’s expressive eyes conveying many emotions at once. I did some fan art for this anime, Akuma Kun. I love Ichiros personality. This was a great watch if you like Supernatural shows mixed with detective like shows. Also, Ichiro reminds me of L from Death Note.
This is an illustration I did last year that is included in a book of short stories about 'Abdul-Baha, the son of the founder of the Baha'i Faith, entitled "To Serve All Humanity".
