This art is linked to my previous work. The protogonist has entered the other side of the world. A weird place but it seems familiar as this world is nothing but his consciousness and diary is just a portal which let him in here
Mixed media (watercolor, graphic marker, fine-liner and ink) on paper. In many of my drawings I look for the emergent shapes and worlds to bring out and make them intersect with each other, proceeding intuitively yet with an energetic sense of what I wish to bring forth. It is a constant play between the unpredictable and intentional.
The original is in private collection, but a limited number of prints (total of 12) is available for purchase. Artworks are printed on high quality archival paper, numbered and signed.
"Facade" depicts the duality between constructed appearance and natural image. The old woman manifests societal idealization of beauty within her headpiece, burdened by the intricacy. Aesthetically pleasing symbols around her echo the notions of her manifested identity. This facade subconsciously contributes to continuing superficial values.
