The countryside is a place far away from the city, peaceful and cool. My hometown is also on the outskirts of the city. Every summer vacation home to visit, I enjoy a cool and fresh air. Both sides of the road are straight dikes with fields, smooth green lawns, and beautiful vast fields. In my hometown, there are bamboo and banyan trees for shade every summer afternoon. Farmers work hard to cultivate and cultivate vegetables. Young people about the same age as me, come home from school and still have to take care of buffaloes and cows. People in the countryside live frugally, spontaneously, but full of love. They know how to care for each other in the village love.

The time that blends from afternoon to evening, always brings out an array of colors. This is one imagination of it.

I got to drop into an outdoor class with my beloved teacher from the studio. A space had finally opened up two weeks before everything in SF shut down again. Well, it was good to see her and my fellow students and be in that setting on a beautiful sunny day. I was also negotiating my next job salary and getting phone calls during class, so I wasn't entirely present. The class topic for the day was palm trees. This is in front of the De Young, another place I was so glad to have visited indoors on another afternoon before the latest lock down.

I t is my opinion that Mel Gibson’s portrayal of the brutality the Roman soldier inflicted on the body of Jesus, through the beatings and the 39 lashes with the cat of nine tails. This event was never visually captured in arts, until he made his movie The Passion of the Christ. Many don’t know what a cat of nine tales is, Roman style. A cat of nine tails are nine leather strap that are woven together at the handle. Each strap is laced with bone and other sharp objects. With each lash, flesh would be ripped from the victim’s body. Most of the illustration I have seen of the crucifixion of Jesus where quite sterile. They fail to illustrate the brutality. Their image of Jesus looks more like an under wear modal doing a photo shoot fore GQ magazine, Then the savor having the wrath of God being pored on his body for the payment of our sins. In this painting, I am place my viewer in the soldiers shoes, who just witnessed Jesus committing His spirit into God’s hands. White pencil on a black paper - Lazy afternoon...

The freshness of morning withdrew in front of the warm rays of the sun. The Wizard of Cirilo Bum and I came to the High Meadow, one beautiful gazebo, where we planned to spend a day off. - Only those who work hard and get their work done, fully enjoy all the pleasure of a vacation - said the wizard Čirilo Bum. I did not answer him, my life plan was to work as little in life, for that reason, I have taught for the wizard at him. By the time we took the time to see the water that emerged from the earth, in the air she created a form of grapes and spirals of various colors that had disappeared in the unknown. Below the meadow was stretched by which a dozen young dragons rode along and across, skillfully changed the direction of movement and twisted with their long bodies, they played hunting. Hidden in the crown of a large oak tree near us, pointed snake watched their game with their big green eyes, but I noticed that she quickly dropped into sleep. Then I remember that I did not do some important jobs yesterday, Čirilo Bum will definitely see it when we get home. It spoils my mood a bit, and I pulled out of the baskets a few of the dried sausages that the old wizard worked so well. Full stomach I always better mood. - There are rare opportunities to see the Big Redbeak - suddenly spoke Cirilo Bum - bird right now wants to snatch egg. I stared for a while around so Čirilo Bum says: I said Big. And indeed, I find him so big that several other creatures sought accommodation in his body. Cirilo Bum spent almost all day hovering in the crown of the old yew, napping with a satisfied look on his face. Every time I was constantly tortured by the fact that I would have to listen, a critic of the old wizard, when we come home because of my unsolved tasks. My nervousness I softened so that I ate all the food from the basket. Late in the afternoon, we went home, from the trees they began to descend some new, hitherto unseen beings in search for food or night hideout. Spirit of water was gone, but a good part of the way, perhaps from curiosity, we were followed by other inhabitants of the World of Fantasy, were to me welcome companions, I took my thoughts with them, to the house. Today’s drawing gets it’s name from something I overheard someone declare at lunch yesterday afternoon. I’ve had kale often enough and yet, I’m not convinced it tastes *entirely* like grass... I could be wrong though. Thoughts?

Lazy Sunday afternoons and all things Beatles influenced...

Sunday afternoon sitting on the porch just doodling. I'd been drawing my neighborhood all day so I stopped and had a beer, and just started in on this.

Daily Prompt Afternoon. A tribute to my old friend Sky my Bearded Dragon. It seems great to see him sat there basking in the afternoon sun. RIP Sky you're very much missed.

While "piggy-backing" at a friend's watercolor class this afternoon the subject of mushrooms came up. This is my quick rendering of a mushroom in Procreate on my first gen iPad using my Sensu stylus. Shadows will be addressed in next week's class but unfortunately I will be gone. I definitely need more practice with shadows.

I woke up from an afternoon nap on the couch to this pile of clean laundry. My son says it's boring because there's no color! But it's sumi ink, and I've only got watercolor. I've tried it before, and this ink will run. Time to order some colored pencils? Or use my son's markers!

Afternoon Tea

When I was a teen, my grandfather had alzheimers, a failing heart, and half of one lung. He was covered with scars and sometimes muttered at walls. I was asked to keep an eye on him, briefly, one afternoon, while my grandmother did something else. While I was alone with him, he looked at an empty space right next to me, and whispered: "Mom? Dad? Is that you?" With the exception of getting hit by a car, that was the most terrifying moment of my life.
