This was my big project this weekend, my first attempt at a large full body horse. The picture was requested by a horse lover like myself and I can’t wait to give it to her. Done in pencil on an 18x24in sketch pad.
Hey everyone, sorry for such a long hiatus! The main reason is that I haven't been drawing so I had nothing to post. I also went through a name change, from BurningCinders to Umbra! For this piece, I played around with some new brushes and attempted to play with fog for the first time.

I never imagined I could capture so much emotion in an eye—especially on just my second attempt. This piece came to life through intuition more than technique. The values, the shadows, the highlights… they felt like they found their place on their own. Maybe emotion, light, and shadow have always spoken to me—I just finally listened.
My first attempt at a concertina birthday card. While simple to make, it can be a bit fiddly and getting the proportions and placement of objects right for each layer is important so that everything can be seen once the layers are overlapped. It reminds me of printing processes, where each layer is gradually added. It was quite an enjoyable process.

Malthus appears to be absent of any kind of mercy or remorse, often toying with its victims before attempting to kill them and take their souls. Malthus is also very sadistic, persistent, aggressive, terrifying, and pure evil. Done with lead pencil on 11x17 80ibs strathmore drawing paper. This character is based on demon that came in real life story. In Annabelle comes home movie is where he gets involved the most. My first attempt at doing a portrait with a ballpoint pen. After having dedicated a lot of time to improving my digital art I took a break from it and turned to pen/pencil on paper and am quite happy with what I manage to create on my first attempt.
I'm usually bad at portraits or drawing faces in general so I decided to practice a bit more and this was the result of my first serious attempt at a portrait drawing using graphite pencils and black fineliners
A sketchy batman. This is a bit old but i still love it because it was my attempt at drawing a superhero type character. My anatomy at that time was not how i wanted it to be and still to this day but now i have a slight hang of it.
I finally attempted to do a drawing completely in ballpoint pen (I faced my fears of messing up). Thank you to my friend for donating their face to this cause, very much appreciated. The drawing isn't 100% accurate, I think we can all agree on that, but a decent first try.
An attempt at people. This is Holy Week for some of us. Yesterday was Palm Sunday, and we watched mass on our church's new YouTube channel. The Gospel reading was very long, so everyone in the frame was standing still for a good while. I was really looking forward to our spring class People in the Park because I haven't done much figure work. It was postponed of course, so your constructive criticism is welcome.
