I began with the intention of creating a mandala, but it evolved into what looks like a cell. In my notebook next to this it says, "If the cells in my body were a reflection of my outward exterior, this would be a perfect representation." Hey everyone! This is an interactive website I did for my BFA thesis this year. The piece explores the struggles I’ve faced as a black, lesbian woman. This piece features events that happened when I was in an unhealthy relationship in high school, from late-2016 to mid-2017. The work combines CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and HTML with digitized images that I drew on paper, using black colored pencil. I'd really appreciate some feedback and critique for this work. It depicts a friendly alien species who, having travelled light years across space, shared the fruits of their knowledge with us, and assimilated into human life as best they could, is still confronted with one of those age-old questions of ignorance.
