This one is of a pirate. Others include a superhero, an alien, a witch, an angel, and a cat. Maia, one of two current German Shepherds was born here at our house ten years ago. She is a grand old lady with a big ears, a big ruff and a sweet personality. This drawing was done from a photo reference AND her sleeping at my feet. I used Pigma Micron Pens in black and brown with a little graphite smudging to add a bit of shadow.
(Gel Fineliner on A5 Paper) The type of artwork which makes you look twice at it due to the title. If it was a photo or a sculpture, I'd probably use a readymade, but here it was something I could easily draw from memory with it being so basic and familiar to everyone.
Doodling has become an essential part of new beginnings in my life. The blank page is encouraging unplanned art that surprises me and pushes me in new directions. This piece speaks to me of fresh starts and flowing into the future full of change and magical possibilities.
