I finally finished this piece for my Aunt. It was based on a goofy picture she sent me. I am pleased with the depth I achieved and can see improvements. I am not most experienced with portraits or anatomy/characters.
Was initially going to try coffee painting with this one, but that clearly wasn’t happening...
Hence the mentioning of divorce here, it being my expectations being split from the reality this time around. Still, things worked out in the end!
Rainy days = a perfect excuse for a shedload of coffee and drawing to indulge in. :)
Occurs to me I did one with the title “Laurel Weaver” close to four years ago. Not much else connects the two beyond the title or does it? I don’t know...
Whatever the case, I fancied recycling and revisiting this idea somehow. Enjoy!

There’s a bit in that film where he talks about what he hopes his afterlife would be like and, for whatever reason, a couple of coffees as I was re-reading the Wikipedia article about it triggered an idea I had to scribble down...

It's one of Luisa's best buddies: Padre Pio! Now in color! Doesn't seeing Capuchin colors make you feel like having a cappuccino? Just make sure you have your coffee with milk in the morning here in Italy, otherwise you will scandalize all the Italians. lol. What can I say about Padre Pio, well he knew about the Divine Will and Luisa and he had the stigmata and mystical experiences and well he's just one cool dude that don't mess around. lol (I hope this translates well enough for the italians reading this, heh).

My mum and i call him morise. (His real name is moritz). he made us delicious tea and coffee in his artstudio. we talked, painted and i drew alot at his place. he turned into family. when i heard that he passed away, i couldnt pick up a paintingbrush, acrylics or watercolours because it reminded me so much of him. now, for this drawing i started to experiment with watercolours again and added it in the drawing. honestly, i cried during the process of painting but i am proud that i dared to use it. i enjoyed to experiment.

Yay! It's my Birthday! (Toon Link Windwaker style!). Hard to believe I'm 35 already :o (Oct. 29, 1986). All the seminarians sang happy birthday to me in english when I got my morning coffee. heh. Hi everyone, as a freelance photographer, I always choose for myself very close and ancient inspirations. Suddenly I remembered that my grandfather's room was still kept until now, so I took my camera and ran over there. Just like I feel a scene full of classics and peaceful, this is where my grandfather used to read newspapers, magazines, science books and meditate with a cup of tea or coffee. But this room is now locked and vacant because my grandfather passed away 2 years ago. I still often come to this room to clean up and sit down to think and remember the memories of the two grandparents in the past. Memories are so dear and beautiful
Situational awareness is important these days. Pre-pandemic, I sometimes take my doodles to coffee shops during my lunch breaks and relax for half an hour or so by mindlessly scribbling/shading with my Bic pen. People usually leave me alone but this drawing made me realise that not everyone wants to see a man drawing a naked man. A few people took exception to my subjects’ lack of clothing and made their displeasure known by telling me.
