The dorsal hairs are strongly bicolored, with black or dark brown bases and yellow tips. Some authors consider that H. macrotus is distributed only in Chile and Argentina. I have long been fascinated by the vision of a campfire in a dark forest and I have drawn a few versions of it with different results. This is the latest attempt
It's official. I've gone to the dark side and fallen in love with acrylic gouache - specifically the Liquitex one. I took an hour or two and drew some owls while watching the 7th Harry Potter movie. If "Cuphead; The Delicious Last Course" had a more darker ending, where you literally break Chef Saltbaker's heart. The other Inkwell residents would be attending his funeral, and he spends an eternity cooking in Hell.
Superstitions: Nightmare
The 'nightmare' was originally believed to be a huge spirit which settled on people while they slept and gave them a feeling of being stifled - and in Europe an old preventative for this was to place a knife or something similar at the end of the bed, as it was well known that the denizens of darkness feared iron and steel.
