I don't often do the prompts and, when I do, I generally finish them late. They don't always speak to me, but this one did. The ideas are not original, but I'm pretty sure I came up with this maxim last year as a way of encouraging myself.
Soooo.... there's Keeper of the Lost Cities, and there's Star Wars... but what if you combine them? This is the one and only O-Biana Kenobi (Obi-Wan Kenobi and Biana Vacker). I'm actually really, really proud of this, so if you don't mind liking it, I would really appreciate it :) I plan on doing more things like this in the future, such as Emperor Palpitam (Tam Song and Emperor Palpatine) and Darth Vacker (Darth Vader and Fitz Vacker). If you haven't seen Star Wars GO BINGE-WATCH THEM!!! If you haven't read KotLC GO READ THEM ALL!!! I myself am only on 6/8.5 books in that series... anyway I hope you like this... because I worked really, really hard on it.

I strongly feel we need more nonsense & mindless meaningless windows of imagination & for those who r not afraid to go on a courageous personal adventure... enjoy! At the top of Pentregwenlais near Llandybie is Gwenlais Quarry. In itself, the quarry is quite beautiful with its sheer rock faces and the way that nature has started to reclaim it. This scene is one of the paths that leads down from the top of the quarry back towards Pentregwenlais. I was going to do it as a pen & wash but by the time I'd finished with the watercolour I thought it was too complex to start putting ink in there. Watercolours on watercolour paper (6x8")
Yet again, this came from a doodle... then from there, i just couldn't help myself & continued to add more fun & a few extra nutty bonus cartoons. Hence the number 6. A great caricature artist by the name of Al Hirschfield used to add & scribble his daughters' name into each drawing. He then would add a number next to his signature signaling how many times the name 'Nina' would appear. So in a similar way i too have decided to add a number but mine will simply offer a hint for how many extra cartoons i have deliberately added. Can u find them?
The entity in the picture is sort of like a grim reaper, except not. At the end of your life, you will find yourself in an eternal plane of nothingness. You encounter him; and you are presented with two options: to either accept your fate and have your memory wiped, as you are reincarnated, or you are able to have your soul taken out of your very body, have it turned into an orb, and you can stay for as long as you want until you are ready to go: hence, "Stay for Nothing." My first art of 2021, and the first in about 7 months after feeling blocked since last year. Reference was some random photo of a house on a country lane from when I used to go for long walks in Sussex. I decided to push myself into doing some form of artwork every day. This was the result from day three.
"Chameleon, you're free again, my child." I think using song lyrics may be slightly cheating...but it is quoted text... I feel like I haven't made a 'purposeful' piece in a bit, so this drawing felt even better to make. There have been multiple ups and downs lately. Frustration, self-hate, and anxiety can take many forms, and eventually I lose sight of what they started as. I heard this song for the first time a few months ago and it's really been stuck in my head recently for various reasons. I don't know, sometimes music provides an escape that even art can't.

"Parts Unknown," Acrylic on Canvas, 18x24 Some actions we will never know the reason behind, and, quite honestly, we don't always need to know the answer. Anthony Bourdain committed suicide on June 8th, 2018, news that was shocking for most to hear. People continue to speculate what could have caused him to commit suicide, some feel he had more to do, to say before he died. Personally, I find there's some feeling of closure or completeness to his death. I don't know what the feeling is exactly, but it's there. It feels like he left on his own terms, decided it was time. I wouldn't consider his death as him waving a white flag to addiction and depression. He said his shows were intended to tell other's stories, tell them frankly and truthfully. It's interesting how blunt and honest he could seem to be about himself, though he kept so many layers held within. Although we'd love to have a clear cut answer, explanation, reason, what would knowing that information change?
