Something a little different. Painterly little watercolours from today. Felt like exploring colour mixing – took a sketchbook to the one of the quiet botanical parks.

You Can’t See Me~ Painted this today in my sketchbook :) it was cold for the first time this morning so wanted to paint something autumnal.

I always have a more muted color palette in mind and then the painting ends up being very colorful. Trying out Arteza gouache. I really like it :)

The challenging thing with just using pen is that I can't paint over a mistake. I usually redo a face more than once. I didn't mean to make their face so stoic, it makes them look like a statue.

Here's the rough in of a collage of little plants in various containers... just a fun scribble on a hot, summer afternoon. Color is on the way... 9x12 micron on mixed media board

Layered watercolor floral inspired by the beginning of autumn.

This is a gouache painting on wood. It is in the style of the batik florals I painted when I was a textile designer in NYC in the seventies.

I've been taking Vitcoria Johnson's 3 week class on florals and loving every second.

This was drawn from a reference I found on Google. The gold was added later with a gel pen. Tell me what you think

I'm working on finishing this with watercolor and pen. It symbolizes growing up and the important relationships between old and young. Critiques are appreciated.

Pink tulips on toned tan sketch paper. This was my first time burnishing. I used the toned tan paper so that I could better see the effects of burnishing with a white pencil. I used Prismacolor soft core pencils.

On the myth of trees

Taking this pic was challenging finding the right light for the moon and the stars pop up more imo and my frog was hard to color but I love how the lake came out with the shines from the moon and fireflies. I even took the time to paint some tall grass and reeds in the background ^^ hope you like!
