I miss having old-school, beautifully fucked up dreams that make zero sense whatsoever. One I had earlier this week met those standards of surrealism and more!
The amaranthus are commonly used as symbols of eternity/immortality due to its ability to retain its color for a long time after dying/cut off". I thought that this phenomenon represents "hope" more than the more common meaning of "devotion/undying love". Having hope keeps us alive during difficult periods where we are cut off from the things that typically motivates us, whether it be financial resources, loved ones, etc., and I tried to convey this by juxtaposing the vibrant colours of the flowers (symbolizing hope and life) with the grayscale tone of the statue (symbolizing death and brokenness).

It’s one of my OC’s (her name is Annie, short for Anabella). She has heterochromia, meaning she has 2 colored eyes, and I tried to match the butterflies with the color of the eye on the opposite side. The angle is supposed to be from above, with her laying down, and her hair spread out.
Another addition to the people who have static for a head. I haven't mentioned it before, but the little gray things around their neck are just to make their scars of when their heads were torn off prettier. I think I'm going to call her Emily.
Spotted these two squirrels while out walking during spring 2018. The highly entertaining pair were exceptionally easy to photograph. NOTE: I'm working on how to make a better digital image of my artwork. Will get there--sorry for the gray background.

Glaucomys sabrinus, northern flying squirrel has belly fur that is gray at the base. Flying squirrels might more appropriately be called “gliding squirrels” because they aren’t capable of true powered flight that a pterosaur, a bird or a bat can do. Took a loong time to get this one done. Thought using color pencils in background would look cool and it kinda does but it takes way long to do it. Anyways, how would you rate it on a scale of 1 to 10? MHX out!!
