Some floral doodles and color test

For some reason I tried some floral drawings, of different shapes, and I also used mixtures of different colors to produce hues of green. The first page - it’s a mix of the cobalt blue (PB 28) and cadmium yellow medium (PY 35). On the second one there is ultramarine (PB 29) for the blue color and the same yellow paint. To me, it seems the difference is very little but I’ve got the color closest to the ‘normal’ green using Cobalt rather than ultramarines. The latter gave either to yellowish to olive hues or too blueysh

Day of Holiday in the World of Fantasy, abstract art with a short story, naive outsider artwork

The freshness of morning withdrew in front of the warm rays of the sun. The Wizard of Cirilo Bum and I came to the High Meadow, one beautiful gazebo, where we planned to spend a day off. - Only those who work hard and get their work done, fully enjoy all the pleasure of a vacation - said the wizard Čirilo Bum. I did not answer him, my life plan was to work as little in life, for that reason, I have taught for the wizard at him. By the time we took the time to see the water that emerged from the earth, in the air she created a form of grapes and spirals of various colors that had disappeared in the unknown. The Ghosts of water had fun, trying to show each other their skills. We chose a place on the edge of the High Meadow for our accommodation, where we could watch the landscape: meadows and forests scattered to distant mountains of dark blue. Above us were an old, large yew tree as created to keep us from the strong sun and the negative energy. Below the meadow was stretched by which a dozen young dragons rode along and across, skillfully changed the direction of movement and twisted with their long bodies, they played hunting. Hidden in the crown of a large oak tree near us, pointed snake watched their game with their big green eyes, but I noticed that she quickly dropped into sleep. Then I remember that I did not do some important jobs yesterday, Čirilo Bum will definitely see it when we get home. It spoils my mood a bit, and I pulled out of the baskets a few of the dried sausages that the old wizard worked so well. Full stomach I always better mood. - There are rare opportunities to see the Big Redbeak - suddenly spoke Cirilo Bum - bird right now wants to snatch egg. I stared for a while around so Čirilo Bum says: I said Big. And indeed, I find him so big that several other creatures sought accommodation in his body. Cirilo Bum spent almost all day hovering in the crown of the old yew, napping with a satisfied look on his face. Every time I was constantly tortured by the fact that I would have to listen, a critic of the old wizard, when we come home because of my unsolved tasks. My nervousness I softened so that I ate all the food from the basket. Late in the afternoon, we went home, from the trees they began to descend some new, hitherto unseen beings in search for food or night hideout. Spirit of water was gone, but a good part of the way, perhaps from curiosity, we were followed by other inhabitants of the World of Fantasy, were to me welcome companions, I took my thoughts with them, to the house. Sea Turtle Commission

This piece was commissioned by a coworker. It was a very large piece at 24"by26" on green leather. I used an acrylic base and then completely covered that with oils. It becomes very dusty when dried so I added many layers of a spray varnish for oils on top. The color remained nice and vibrant.

flying a kite

doodle based on a quote from David Copperfield : I used to fancy, as I sat by him of an evening, on a green slope, and saw him watch the kite high in the quiet air, that it lifted his mind out of its confusion, and bore it (such was my boyish thought) into the skies.

The Molting Man
1/2

The Molting Man first appeared on my Red Spread (see second image); I refined him for the green spread (first). This bizarre Icarus deserves some kind of short story about him. I'm not sure what the plot would be. It's probably tragic.

Apple

© YLYA YOD I had an idea to create illustrations of fruit set in autumn 2017, and have been working on the realization of this idea throughout February/March 2018. In all, I have created 11 illustrations: apple, apricot, banana, cherry, grape, lemon, orange, pear, plum, tomato, watermelon. Using rapidograph to form the shape, I am coloring my works digitally in Adobe Photoshop. Here is an apple!

“Kale Just Tastes Like The Colour Green”, May 2022.

Today’s drawing gets it’s name from something I overheard someone declare at lunch yesterday afternoon. I’ve had kale often enough and yet, I’m not convinced it tastes *entirely* like grass... I could be wrong though. Thoughts?

The creative demon possessing me at the time must’ve either been Mark E. Smith or Radiohead’s ‘Hail To The Thief’ shaped, judging by the lyrics of this one..

Up in the tree

If a thousand girls walked past under this tree not one of them would have the faintest idea that I am sitting up there. The pine cones are green and very hard. My feet are brown. And the wind is blowing right through my hair. Sculptor's daughter by Tove Jansson. #dailydrawing #toveJansson

forest

To draw a forest so it's big enough you don't include the tops of the trees or any sky. Just very thick tree-trunks growing absolutely straight. ... In a proper painting of a forest everything is roughly the same colour, the moss, the tree-trunks and the branches of the fir trees, everything is soft and solemn, half-way between grey and brown and green but very little green. If you want you can add a princess, for example. She is always white and very tiny and has long yellow hair. Sculptor's daughter by Tove Jansson.
