Another neurodiversity-themed design.

Drawn in 2019, this is a graphite and ink portrait of my mum's horse that I did as a birthday present for her. I used Fine liner pens and 5H, HB, and 6B graphite pencils on A4 150GSM art paper.

This is my first attempt at traditional egg tempera painting. The panel is a Masonite board from Michaels, but I need to use true gesso because the egg tempera will not adhere to acrylic gesso. Some of my favorite artists used egg tempera. Andrew Wyeth, Robert Vickrey, and Colin Fraser are all masters of this ancient and archival medium. I have been self studying this technique for months and I was very excited to start experiencing the medium. Egg tempera is like layering stained glass on top of stained glass. the painter can expect a luminous glow to take shape as the colors blend visually through the layers of paint - assisted by the chalk of the true gesso. Egg tempera has been described as the closest painting technique to drawing, hence my draw to this medium.

OK, I'm not saying it's mind-blowingly good. Rather, I want to allude to how this picture came about: I painted it with a hammer! You can find the complete creation process on my blog at https://christiandrab.de.

Drawing trees and other landscape elements was my daily routine for the last two months. For two months, I've been developing my style. It's essential to create consistently in one style for a long time. It's the way you get to know better: - yourself, - what you like, - what you enjoy.

I'm playing a lot with the background texture. I'm discovering the power of brushes from Krita Software.  I fell in love with the gouache texture effect.  I like the silhouettes in this illustration, but the leaves could be better. I need to find a good brush for drawing leaves faster and with ease. Or maybe I should try some other techniques? Have a creative time!

Mommy tree and her daughter. I hope they'll always be close to each other. Pushing yourself to the next level is a great experience. I did it today by drawing this illustration. It's what happened to me: - I created effects I've never done before, - my creativity reached its new highs, - I developed new painting skills, - I'm still feeling amazing. Bee populations are rapidly declining around the world and there are many reasons to save the bees, but here are three of the most important: 1. Bees play a crucial role in our ecosystem. They help pollinate plants, which is necessary for us and other animals to survive. If there were no bees, we would lose many types of fruits and vegetables. 2. Bees also play an important role in our economy. Honey is a popular sweetener, and bee pollen is used as a dietary supplement. There are also many products that use beeswax as an ingredient. All of these products would be more expensive without the work of bees. 3. Finally, it’s simply important to protect all forms of life on Earth. We need to do everything we can to make sure that future generations will be able to enjoy nature’s beauty and bounty just as much as we do today.

My very first freehand from the past almost two decades, scribbled it at dawn, after ten hours of work just to see where the lines take me. I learned that I really enjoy drawing hair strain by strain.
