This mixed media piece is what I call a Monday to Monday piece. At the start of each week while working on other pieces I often times have left over paint or want to see how something works out before I put it on the main piece I’m working on so I use a piece of heavy weight paper to test all that on and just keep adding to it through out the week. It also gives me a space to just make whatever I want if I need a break from the main pieces I’m working on.
This watercolor painting was done of one of the first flowers I saw upon arriving in London. It was a yellow climbing rose on the outside of our residence hall. This was my first try using paint pens. Played around with shapes to get used to the texture of the paint and how it feels to use the pens. Done in a watercolour sketchbook.
The (i think) 12th and final butterfly for the Literal Butterflies Project. Wow! thats a lotta flutterflies. This one was certainly tedious with such elaborate markings, she wasn't easy! ... That said, none of them were. With such beauty, and intricate wing pattern and design, butterflies are a very difficult subject to work with. But somehow we managed to get through all 12 with some of my hair left! Loved every step of this journey :)
