I didn't know what to draw but I know Valentine’s Day is this month so I decided to draw hearts for today. This month Im going to try to stick to two mediums painting and sketching with graphite pencils to build my skills with them.
Mantid on a rose bud was done on Strathmore Bristol with Derwent Graphitint (tinted graphite) pencils. I love these insects and they are all over the rose bushes this time of year. I tried to capture her natural grace and beauty as she stepped down from her rose bud perch while eyeing her prey.

This is a colour pencil artwork based on the likeness of British actress Madeline Smith. She starred in a James Bond film once, and a few Hammer Horror films. Many thanks for looking and hope you like it !
This was my big project this weekend, my first attempt at a large full body horse. The picture was requested by a horse lover like myself and I can’t wait to give it to her. Done in pencil on an 18x24in sketch pad.
