Hi! I just now created this page because I have a problem!! I love the idea of drawing (digital, graphite, markers, microns you name it), BUT I never actually get anything finished. It's a curse that has haunted me my entire life. Any good advice on how to stay consistent and follow through with your drawings? This one I've been doodling with Sketchable, using the photo to the left as reference just to eyeball off. I worked on it for a few days and was super inspired and now a year has passed from that (!!!) and It's still in this stage of almost done but I'm struggling with getting back into it..

I actually have 2 fave letters (A and M, for obvious reasons...). But I love writing my a's like this so I went with "A".

Where do I begin with this one? This is a drawing of my dad and I; the picture was taken back in 2006, a happier time, I suppose. I don't commonly think about my dad, I don't necessarily think about how much I miss him or how I wish I could see him again, so it was odd for me to sit and look through old photos. I don't really know my dad; I do, but I don't. My dad was physically part of my life for 10 years, the second half of those were not the best. Mental illness, self medicating for years, debt, heroin, arguments, threats, uncertainty. I feel like I remember the negative more because I was older, my parents couldn't hide it from me like they used to. At the same time, when he was sober and stable, life was good. Life was great, things felt complete. So here I am, 6 years since he died. I don't want to say his image is fading, but I know less of who he was than I did before. I see the good from some (the ones who praise him, who act like he was a saint), and I see the bad from others (the one who felt the pain). I suppose I no longer see my view, my memories aren't there anymore. I don't necessarily feel sad, the anger has faded, and I can't say I'm happy. Maybe I'll figure it out one day, but, for now, it is what it is.

I drew it with "Derwent" a graphite pencil, the drawing is A4 size. Upon request, I drew the bunny based on a photo. I wanted to introduce the bunny personality traits, which I did. The owner was very happy for him. :)

Annette Hanshaw, look her up. She is wonderful!!! Now, I think some people think I'm tryna be rude doing this whole Joker-esque vibe, PLEASE, I'm not. I like and respect Joker (mainly the Mark Hamill one). The music that Annette Hanshaw sings is one that takes me back to a time where we get that nice old soul of old timey goodness, which is what Mr Mark Hamill's portrayal of the Joker made me think of. So, making an older photo of Annette Hanshaw look like the Joker form DC comics, to me, is a cool thing. Yes, I didn't draw the entire thing, this is just me drawing over the picture. I wanted it to look like the chalkboard menus in quirky cafes. I drew the image with a Blackwing pencil, scanned it into Photoshop, inverted, then applied the colors.

Activity of the Day

For this I used a red colored pencil and inverted my drawing on Photoshop. In the dream, everything is black and I can't see anything, only feel it. Here I outlined everything I can feel so that it can be seen.
