Stripped of skin, status, and story, what remains is the truth beneath it all. Bone Deep is a minimalist skeletal portrait rendered in graphite and ink on canvas, built through cross-hatching, stark contrast, and deliberate restraint. The exaggerated skull and hollow eyes confront the viewer directly — not with fear, but with inevitability.

Inspired by the Irworobong design (korean palace folding screen) during my Korea trip. Since I made the trip in spring, with flowers abundant, I thought to use the five mountain peaks as five petals to form a flower.

The countryside is a place far away from the city, peaceful and cool. My hometown is also on the outskirts of the city. Every summer vacation home to visit, I enjoy a cool and fresh air. Both sides of the road are straight dikes with fields, smooth green lawns, and beautiful vast fields. In my hometown, there are bamboo and banyan trees for shade every summer afternoon. Farmers work hard to cultivate and cultivate vegetables. Young people about the same age as me, come home from school and still have to take care of buffaloes and cows. People in the countryside live frugally, spontaneously, but full of love. They know how to care for each other in the village love.

I guess I don't have a lot of description to go with this one. I like all of the elements in it, though, like the blue hair, the earings, and the t shirt patch. Those are always the most fun parts of a drawing. For me, at least.

Fifth Sorrowful Mystery: The crucifixion. I made the water and blood appear sorta as when Jesus appeared in the Divine Mercy devotion. Indeed a great act of mercy, his head is leaning towards the Good Thief, St. Dismas, to show his mecy towards him, the other thief refused (Gesmas). We also have St. John the Apostle, St. Mary Magdeline, Our Blessed Mother and St. Longinus, the roman soldier who pierced Jesus' heart with the Holy Lance. St. Longinus was healed spiritually the water and blood that poured forth by this act and believed, proclaiming Jesus to truly be the Son of God. "And when they came to the place which is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on the right and one on the left. And Jesus said, 'Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do' ...It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour, while the sun's light failed; and the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Then Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, 'Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit!' And having said this he breathed his last" (Lk 23:33-46). "'Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures' (1 Cor 15:3)" (CCC, 619). Eve is a continuation on my series of portraits. This piece represents my maturing technique and style as I begin to experiment with creamy consistencies. The painting displayed my ability to capture facial expressions. My trip to Paris, France influenced my painting style. I was struck by the realism and drama depicted in various compositions, but also the lack of diversity. This piece is named "Eve" questioning whether the holy subjects depicted in European art were, in fact, part of a different race altogether.

These figures found must cast some meanings from my subconscious. They simply came and as a whole composition! I uploaded a full description on youtube giving them individual names, mostly ghostly. This piece contains a spooky atmosphere stronger than the others and remains one of my favorites, probably because better works come effortless.

This piece I did free hand on paper. I fell in love with this drawing. Probably my best marker drawing I have done thus far. What do you guys think?

Inspired by my recent trip to Korea, which I intentionally went this season to catch the cherry/plum/peach blossoms. As I observed the zigzagness of the tree branches, I see in it the number of roads/mis-roads I had to take, as someone unfamiliar with the land, to get to a good bloom spot. Which kinda reminds me of life. I felt I just had to do this piece.
